Commodore Cheezy_Cracker's Waiting Room, Pride of Astert , orbiting Antares
Commodore Cheezy_Cracker was sitting in his chair, reviewing parts of the battle and the ships he lost, when his personal comm unit blinked. He sighed, irritated at having his thoughts interupted, but knew that anyone who had the number to that comm had to be important. He was right, it was the transmission from Commander Nfreader. Immediately, Cheezy_Cracker filed a report to Sol, telling of the ships he had lost in the battle.
Report
To: Confederation HQ, Earth, Sol System
From: Commodore Cheezy_Cracker
2 Kestrels
9 Corvettes
7 Rapiers
20 Lightnings
6 Defenders
I lost 44 out of 60 ships, which amounts to 73.3% of my fleet. Therefore, all of the ships I lost are liable to be replaced, according to the 75% limit that Commander Nfreader so graciously handed me. Instead of replacing the 2 kestrels, however, I would like to request that you allow me use of the Frigate designs. This saves you 20 mil credits, and allows your ally to become even an even stronger friend. I shall be traveling to Earth once my repairs are done, and my crew has had some downtime; I would very much like to meet this Commander Nfreader.
End of Report
Lethe
A rapier with the IFF signal of New Cydonia enters the system. Immediately, the militia converges on it, attempting to destroy it. The Rapier's surperior strength allows it to manuever away with minor damage to shields. It then began to launch torpedoes, destroying three of the weakling Defenders, and damaging 1 Corvette's shields to 50%. It then pressed the attack, managing to further lower the shields dow nto 0%, and started eating in on it's armor, although taking heavy loss to shields. At the same instant the Corvette fired a deadly shot, weakening the Rapier to the brink of destruction, the pilot inside the Rapier pulled his eject button, immediately launching him far from the system, into unknown space. The modified engines of the life craft propelled him far from normal shipping lanes, where he could not be found by any normal traders.
Aries
At the same time as the first Rapier made it's attack on Lethe, the second rapier jumped into the Aries system. Once again, the New Cydonian militia jumped into action, attempting to destroy the Rapier. Only a few defenders were about, since most of the fleet was celebrating the discovery of the water creation system. The Rapier immediately launched his torpedoes, demolishing 4 Defenders, and damaging the shields of the one Rapier on patrol. The militia's Rapier managed to destroy the attacker with his torpedoes, but the pilot inside did manage to pull his escape latch, launching him far into the unknown reaches of space, on the border of the Aries System, where no normal trader would find him.
Lethe/Aries
The citizens of both planets were in an uproar. They both knew that their rivals had attacked them, although neither knew that they had "attacked" their rivals. The Lethians decided then and there that the peace talks would end, it was war again, and the New Cydonians came to the same conclusions, thinking this was the answer to their peace proposals. Chaos began to reign.
Commodore Cheezy_Cracker's Waiting Room, Pride of Astert , orbiting Antares
"Lieutenant, come to my waiting room!" ordered Cheezy_Cracker.
"You called for me, sir!" came the response several moments later.
"Yes, instruct the pilot of Astert's Sister to modify his IFF to read as a trader, then jump into both the Lethe and Aries systems. Once there, have him activate his homing device, and pick up the two downed pilots from the Rapiers." commanded Cheezy_Cracker
"Sir, yes, Sir!" cried the Lieutenant.
Remember, nothing inside the Waiting room can be known about, it is simply to avoid confusion.
