The stuff that I've said I will do is not set in stone. If you disagree (on the terms that it would unfairly modify the balance of the game), feel free to call me on it.
Hehe, this post was too long at first, so I have to break it into two posts...
(quote)Originally posted by Jimbob:
Give the Argosies a laser and one more turret so the pirates aren't totally hopeless. (/quote)
I'll play with the balances a bit to see how well that works out.
(quote)Originally posted by BariSaxGuy5:
I've always thought that the patrol ships needed to have a slightly higher turning ratio since they are fighters (/quote)
Agreed.
(quote)Originally posted by Captain Skyblade:
Give the Clipper an extra javelin pod. It's already in bad shape in terms of performance, so that might give it a minor advantage. (/quote)
Makes sense.
(quote)Originally posted by Captain Skyblade:
Give the Confederation Frigate and Rebel Destroyer each an additional proton turret. Two is, well... I'd expect more of a military warship. (/quote)
Agreed.
(quote)Originally posted by Captain Skyblade:
That Shuttle needs at least one laser cannon (two recommended. One thing I liked about the Override shuttle was that it actually came with slight armament)... The poor sucker can't even defend itself. (/quote)
I'll give it one.
(quote)Originally posted by Captain Skyblade:
Give the Confederation Patrol Ship a bit more speed. (/quote)
I'll play around with the stats, and see what happens...
(quote)Originally posted by Captain Skyblade:
Give the Bulk Freighter two laser turrets. That thing takes next to nothing to destroy, and it needs some decent firepower to defend those rediculous tons of cargo. (/quote)
Very much agreed.
(quote)Originally posted by Captain Skyblade:
Give the Defender a single javelin pod with 25 javelins. It's going to die anyway, so it needs something to at least hurt you with. (/quote)
Hehe, nah. I'll just up its shields slightly and give it a slight bit of armor. Maybe I'll switch one of it's lasers to a proton.
(quote)Originally posted by Captain Skyblade:
Perhaps the Rebel Cruiser could use 50 or so more shields to give it a chance against the 'Fed Cruiser. 75% of the time, the Confederation Cruiser wins, and the remaining 25%, they both get disabled. Either that, or give the Rebel Cruiser an additional proton turret. (/quote)
Agreed.
(quote)Originally posted by Myriad:
Improve the Clipper's acceleration slightly, up until it's a 'good' rating. It's sluggishness is what makes it so annoying. (/quote)
True.
(quote)Originally posted by Myriad:
Make the shield upgrades increase your total by 25 each, instead of 15. I'd say 50, but that seems too much for smaller ships such as the fighters. (/quote)
I'll make it 20.
(quote)Originally posted by Myriad:
Change the Neutron Cannon so it's less useless. Either make it take up half the space and keep it's stats the same, or make it take up the same amount of space and make it more effective. A long range primary fire neutron cannon might actually be useful on bigger ships. (/quote)
I've already made it a primary weapon (which should help some), but I may drop its mass from 35 to 25 or maybe even 20, but I probably won't change its range or power. If you don't want it, don't buy it.
(quote)Originally posted by Myriad:
Change the engine outfits. Instead of one upgrade for each aspect of your engine, make cheaper, less effective upgrades that you can purchase multiple times. Two engine upgrades for 50,000 credits that increased your speed by 50 would be better then one more expensive upgrade. (/quote)
I don't wanna mess with the engine outfits, I think they are just fine where they are. After all, you're paying a mechanic to modify your acceleration/turning... have you ever gone down to Mienike or somewhere to get you car to go even fast, and expected a great deal?
(quote)Originally posted by Myriad:
Some rebel freighters protected by mantas would be nice. Some more dΓΌdes and flΓ«ets in general I guess. (/quote)
I'm not adding stuff.
(quote)Originally posted by Myriad:
A new ship (/quote)
See above.
(quote)Originally posted by Myriad:
Make the bulk freighter available for purchase. Don't make it cheap though, as it is the ultimate trading vessel. Give it some more armor too. (/quote)
I've already made it available. Thankfully, it already had a price tag, so I'll just use that. I won't give it any more armor, but I am going to arm it a bit.
(quote)Originally posted by Captain Skyblade:
The same goes for the Mass Driver. (/quote)
Agreed... I'll drop its mass to about 30, and may or may not mess with it's stats.
(quote)Originally posted by Captain Skyblade:
Speaking of which, it might be a good idea to give the Rebel Cruiser four mass drivers, since its counterpart carries four neutron cannons... (/quote)
At the expense of what? I don't think this will work too well, although it is a good idea...
(quote)Originally posted by Rawzer:
< Ahem>(/quote)
Nope, out of the question.
(quote)Originally posted by Rawzer:
Make the Confederates nicer to talk to. They always say, "Unauthorized use of communication is violation of Confederation Navy Code." No innocent little shuttle trader wants to hear that. No wonder they have a predisposition to like the Rebels. Make 'em say, "What's up?" "Speak to me," or "Howdy." Something fun. (/quote)
Nah. Too much work for something that doesn't really affect the balance of the game (which is the point of all this).
(quote)Originally posted by Rawzer:
Three words: space bars everywhere. (/quote)
Three words (kinda): I don't wanna. That would require me writing for each bar, which I don't feel like doing. Plus, the bars are or aren't put there on purpose, I'm not going to modify them (with the exception of Earth; that one ALWAYS felt like a mistake).
(quote)Originally posted by Rawzer:
Add references to the web board. (/quote)
Uh, no.
(quote)Originally posted by Rawzer:
it was my idea, so I think I have first rights if ya use it.) (/quote)
But it is my plugin...
(quote)Originally posted by Rawzer:
Give third-rate colonies (Luna, Mars, Diphidia) more outfits. They've got barely anything. (/quote)
Nope, that's why they are third-rate colonies. Especially Luna and Mars, they're so close to Earth and Stardock Alpha that it would make sense that if the colonies themselves needed supplies, they could just send a request for more supplies. Especially Luna, as it is just the Confederate shipyard; it doesn't need supplies to defend itself (Earth and Stardock Alpha are right there), and it doesn't need traders to stop by all the time. When was the last time you swung by a military base to pick up some windshield wipers for your car?
(quote)Originally posted by Rawzer:
Add the ability to help stranded ships for cash. I feel guilty stealing from pre-disabled traders. But you shouldn't be able to help if you attacked them. (/quote)
Don't steal from them then.
(quote)Originally posted by Rawzer:
Rebel trading ships that aren't part of Confederate attack missions. (/quote)
Nah, that would require adding stuff.
(quote)Originally posted by Rawzer:
When you have an enemy targeted, try and make it so any ship you hit accidently doesn't fire back. I realize that there are cheaters who could manipulate this, but I'm just brainstorming. (/quote)
That does make sense... I'll try modifying the values that cause governments to get pissed at you so that they are a little more leniant about it.
