    • Hyperspace Theroy

I was in the middle of continuing to write my story when I came to a stop. What is the therory on hyperspace. What do the ships use to jump? Reactor cores, plasma cores? I need help. I would welcome any theroy.

    • Personally, I don't think there was anything written about the hyperspace in any of EV or its readmes. As for a theory, I'll try and come up with something good. Thanks for your response to the poll, BTW. The Rebellion forever!

ps: Where is this story? Is it private or posted on one of these boards(like EV Chronicles)?

It's on the Chronciles page entitled Voayges.

Got it. Am looking forward to reading it.

    • Cmdr. Whitehawk: The DOCMaker read-me that accompanies EV explains the hyperjump situation. I'll try to paraphrase: systems are "connected" across the gulf of space by regions of spatial flux called warplines. You could just as easily think of these warplines not as physical regions, but as "frequencies" of flux. In any case, the warplines provide a shortcut in space (or a tesseract, say, from A Wrinkle in Time ) for objects that can somehow match that frequency. That's the hyperjump.

But how to match the frequency, and with what? In my continuing EV Chronicles story, "Zero Moment," the hyperjump is made possible by one thing: the wondrous metal called uridium , found principally on Spica. Spaceship warp coils are made of uridium. Plasma is routed through these coils; this generates (don't ask me how) fields of subspace particles. One subspace field doesn't do much for you, though. You must generate two subspace fields, because the interaction layer between the fields is where the warp dynamic ย—the "frequency"ย—is generated and modulated. If you're in Sol and you generate the frequency matching the warpline connecting Sol and Centauri, then shazam : you're in Centauri.

That's my theory, anyway. ๐Ÿ™‚ I borrowed much from Jason Hinson's Subspace Physics webpage, located at (url="http://"http://www.physics.purdue.edu/~hinson/subphys/SubspacePhysics.html")http://www.physics.p...acePhysics.html(/url) .

You're too kind! I submitted part three of "Zero Moment" about three weeks ago; I imagine it will take at least three more weeks before it appears on the Chronicles page (a lot of people are submitting these days). I'm six pages into part four at the moment...Let's hope it ends with part seven. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I am a supporter or the wormhole theory, even though it does not seem to be used in EV/O. The simplified principle is that a ship would use a magnetic field to create a gravity core, which should have sufficient strenght to fold space until two different points come together, so the ship would pass immediately through the "gate". Excuse me for any incoherences or moronic explanation, it's 3:10 am and I am not in the mood for thinking.
