    • EVO Developer Map opening problem in 10.2

EVO Developer Map opening problem in 10.2:
When I open EVO Developer’s Map in 10.2 running classic, it stays open for about 2 seconds then quits for no reason. (No "Unexpectedly quit" error appears.) In case your asking, I have version 10.2.2

The funny thing is it works in OS 9 for me but not OS 10.2. Now your asking why not just switch into OS 9? Well, that's not possible because all the important apps I run only work in 10.2. I've also put the correct Data Files in the proper places.

Any ideas how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

    • At the bare minimum, all I need is something to tell me the cordinates (the x and y axis) for EV Override.

    • Thanks for using the handy pocket guide, Taylor. 🙂

This sounds like a standard Inexplicable OSX Classic Mode Borkage. What version of OS 9 are you running for Classic Mode? If it's earlier than 9.2.2 it is probably worth updating to get better compatibility.

Hmm, I just got EVODM myself and it does the same for me. Perhaps it is completely unusable in Classic mode - you will have to restart into OS9 if you want to use it.

      • I use 9.2.2

      • I can't start into classic because I run my own Apache Server :frown: If I do, the server goes down.

So I ask: "All I need is something to tell me the cordinates (the x and y axis) for EV Override."
Is there such a thing out there that runs on 10.2 or is usuable in Classic mode?

If all you want is the coordinates, then surely ResEdit will tell you that?

And Sean, EVODM has indeed not been updated in a long time (several years) but it remains the best s˙st/spöb editor for EVO, at least until EVONE appears.

    • Hi,

Are you looking for a program that can output the x and y positions and that can export them to a text file? I might have the thing, its an application written by me.I won't be releasing the app. (altough you can get it under special conditions (no comment !!) ). I might make an exeption for you. 🙂 If you want it post here. (I might not be arround for a day or so due to time zones)
I'll upload a password protected archive to my evula.org account and mail you the password.

      Waiting for a reply,

    • Entarus,

I'd love that! One question: can it mark x, y cords like a map? If you could discribe the application in more detail please, that would be grand.

No. With ResEdit, I know the placement for the current systems and planets but not where I should place new ones. I need something to tell me the placement of new systems. (Where a system would need to go for it to be in the correct place, with something like a map or something to tell me the x, y cords,) I would have to pretty much guess where it would go, that would be trial and error. It would take way to long.

    • In that case, Taylor, you need a visual system editor, don't you? I'm sorry, but 'tell me the coordinates (x and y) for EV Override' makes very little sense.

The only two that spring to mind immediately are EVODM (which, we have established, doesn't work at all) and EV-Edit, which is unreliable when it comes to system editing. There are no guarantees that it will work in Classic mode either.

I'm sorry but my app. isn't what you are looking for.

BUT in a few days the Public beta of EVONE will be out. EVONE is a complete (and OS X native) editor for ev,evo and evn. While it will be a beta , and not all editors are complete. The galaxy editor (the one you need) is complete. Also there is a s˙st edior , that lets you place planets(without starting up nova/override). As shown in the picture below. EVONE is 10$ shareware. For 10$ you get the whole thing (including upgrades , new editors , etc...). You can test it for free for 30 days.
For more info : See my sig.

Images (Note : the images taken are from Nova , EVONE also works with ev,evo)

I visual editor would be fine. But something that tells me the x, y cords. EV-Edit does NOT tell you the x, y cords. Look in EVO DM, at the bottom left, it shows the x, y cords. See it? That is what I need.

Your software costs 1/3 of what EVN costs?
