    • Plugin/Graphics Design.

I have for some time now been intrested in designing graphics for a plugin. I have done many 2D/3D immages, hovever, very few space scenes, and only one space craft. Because of this, i was wondering what software most of the designers used for the actual space craft, and furthermore how they generally rendered them in the spin pattern that they must be rendered in. I assume that they are just renederd, rotated x # of degrees and rerendered. If anyone has a better method of this i would love to hear it. On the issue of what software most people use for the design of their ships, i thought that perhaps lightwave, 3d studio max, true space and maya might all do the trick, also, with a little work bryce. So if any artists can tell me what software they use, i would be greatly appriciative. Any tips or hints on rendering or even design are welcome.
Thanks, and if anyone decides that they need some ships done, i am willing to try.

Well, the ships in EV and Override were made with Infini-D, and Nova's are made with Lightwave.

It's usually done using your 3D program's animation feature to make an animation of the ship spinning around.

    • The ships in EV and EVO are rotated every 10Ą clockwise. Not sure about Nova.
The ships are arranged into a 6X6 grid.

Silent Night will be converted to Nova! Should be done in 2 years!

    • Well, if you want tips on design and rendering for ev/o, i would reccomend visiting the evo gallery, reading the comments on some of the images, and perhaps posting one or two of your best. Ive always found that to be a good sorce of examples and construstive criticism. Personally, i just use bryce 4 and a couple of shareware programs (colorit for textures, and patchdance for odd or organic shapes.). It may lack the power of more complex and expensive packages, but ive found its just about all you need for evo graphics, and youd be supprised how much you can do with such a package.
