And I dont believe a jammer makes a turret lose all control and basic safety precautions and start hitting my own ships. I aint the fool)

      Chak

The Igazras turrets did not suddenly lose all controlk as the Azdgari fleet apparently hoped, but kept on firing in the same direction. Unlike the Azdgari, the Igadzra has basic safety requirements on their ships, and they knew how to link turrets to sensors so they didnt shoot friendly ships. The fact the Igadzra had something called IFF beacons, which the Azdgari apparently knew nothing about made sure that even if the sensors had trouble, the fleet would know where its ships where.

Activating afterburners, the Igadzra fleet swarmed over the Azdgari, leaving little behind. Their jammers made little difference with the Igadzra fleet being so close, and with the Igadzra apparently having a few hundred times more sense when it came to safety precautions.

      Defensive Battle Strategy
The few amounts of Zidagar ships that were alive swarmed towards the larger warships, out running or dodging most SAD/ Missile type weapons. The fighters were ordered to engage in dogfights (against other fighters) to lighten the load. All disabled ships immediately were self destructed and all of the crew were ordered to get in the escape pod.
      Losses (numbers please)
      Kills (numbers)

The small amount of Zidagar ships compared to the monstrous attack fleet was insignificant. Compared to the massive Igazrada onslaught. The Zidagar knew that they had an enemy here and this enemy was evil incarnate. The Disabled ships that were captured by the Igazdra were tortured very slowly until they bled to death or they died screaming from the immense pain. The Zidagar knew that any one that was this evil must be destroyed.

A galactic threat has arisen. The Igazdra, a corrupt species has preformed brutal methods against the people of both the azdigari and the Igazdra. They have systematically executed everyone that stands against them (even some that do not). They have tortured our people that have surrendered and killed those that have trod upon our land. I assume the azdiagari people have been treated the same perhaps worse (how I cannot imagine). They have even killed miranu/ Zachit/ unknown traders. The Azdigari and I were attacking a threat to every one; the renegades of the rock were being destroyed. However, while we were doing service to all they sprung upon us, with no regard of honor or decency. They have no regard for life (military or civilian). I know that I said that our alliance would not be military (to those that we have allied to) but this will effect every one. I will leave now knowing that each moment I spend could effect the out come of every peace-loving creature. No matter what they tell you they can only think of death, deception, and chaos.
The Igazdra are monsters their rain would be hell.

    • On Mira the reports came in of the strand war escalating to a new level, but the Miranu stayed out of it. They heard the message the Zidagar sent, but their minds were mad up. They didn't handle wars. They had been pleased the Rock had been taken, and many were grieved to hear of the Igadzra's actions. But everyone knew by now not to get involved with Strand War. If you helped one, eventually the other two turned on you. The Miranu simply traded. As always, they went on trading. If people asked, they gave aid with goods, but never aid in wars. They could defend themselves, but in a full fledged war, where whole fleets were committed to battle, they could only send a message of apology to the Zidagar.

The foreigners in their space were all watched, but not suspiciously, out of simple curiosity most of the time. Daily life went on, rejoicing in their small part in getting rid of some of the renegade threat, waiting for their people to come home.

On Mira, the new defense pods were done, and were starting to be put on the trading vessels. This would take a while, as sometimes the traders were gone for awhile, but they were called home, and they came - if slowly. Also new research had begun. The scientists had always been frustrated by the nebulas, wanting to see what was beyond them. So research on the Nebula Penetration Device* began.

    • ooc:I said I would change the friendly fire thing, it was not firing on your own ships but the turrets fired randomly and since your ships are so closely packed they hit some of them. Ok I agree your fleets are way to big for my defense to hold up for long. Here is the tactics the systems used. Please adjust your ship fatilities accordingly.

In all systems: The Azadgari Pilots had been trained how to deal with these massive fleets. In system with asteroids the manueverable Azdaras hide behind the rocks and waged gurilla warfare for a time. After that initial stage the Azdgari Ships waged the old arrow tactic at the closely packed Iggys. The arrow consisted of Azdgari Warships on the outside and Aradas on the inside. The ships constantly firing missiles and phase guns/turrets all of the time. The arrow worked fairly well and caused the Iggy fleet to split into 2 and it caused a little bit of caos. The Azdaras then rushed in from the side making the Iggys defend themselves on several fronts. This worked fairly well and caused many lives lost, on both sides. The Azdaras then took to gurilla tactics again. When that was not worked and there were only a dozen or so ships left in the system they made the ultimate sacrifice and crashed their ships into the bridges of some of the warships causing 7 of them to be destroyed.
The iggy fleet had taken the systems of Chak, Diudir, and Apert. They have not taken the planets.
But they have lost a number of ships.
Gordons fleet had moved to the system Molar.
The newly made ships, the fleet from Muid move to the Tollb system. The fleets from Dirach, and Toi moved to the Tinar system.

      "Paranoia is Life"

    • By Seleria’s standards, the battle of The Rock was one of the best fights she had been in. She had thoroughly enjoyed herself, flying around, attacking renegade ships. Hyperion’s communication receiver was on for the entire flight, and she noticed that some renegades were screaming war-cries at their opponents in general, and Seleria took great delight in opening links the their ships and swearing at them enough to make those not used to hearing language like that cover their ears. She was careful not to direct her insults at any of the allied ships, sending the messages only to renegades that were near her. After the fight, she had happily disabled the Rock’s system, which was set to self destruct mode. She let the fleet commanders and Gordontron know of the renegade’s plans to let the Rock blow up in their faces.
      -----------------------------------------------
After landing on the Rock everything was pretty chaotic. There were extremely upset people everywhere. After wandering around aimlessly for a while, she found the central meeting area where the fleet commanders were talking, and hung back, listening. Gordontron walked in and began delivering a speech, which she listened to intently. She was curious to see the battle from a perspective other than hers. In a way, she wished she wasn’t there when he mentioned her “attack” on the docking bay. Seleria hated being the center of attention. Thankfully, most of the others probably didn’t know she was in the room.
      -----------------------------------------------
When the Azdgari fleet were in space, planning to jump towards Raigar, Seleria and Hyperion had been with them, but when they had suddenly run off in another direction, she was hesitant to follow. No notice had been sent to her about the change. After landing and seeking out the Zidagar Commander, she figured it out. The Igadzra must have attacked. The Zidagar, had received word of a strike, and the Igadzra would have had no reason to spare the Adzgari from a similar attack. She wandered back to Hyperion and sent a message to Xarnes, knowing it would be forwarded to Gordontron.
      -----------------------------------------------
I know you have business more important than me to worry about, but I am still on The Rock, I am not yet sure if I want to take battle action in the Strand War, nor am I sure what’s really going on. The Strand War is a dangerous thing to get involved in.
      -Seleria
      -----------------------------------------------
As she ended the transmission to Gordontron she sighed, knowing deep down that already that she truly had taken sides in the favor of the Adzgari. Well, she thought to herself, at least the Igadzra don’t know that yet. The Zidagar might not realize it either. They could just think I’m some insane, renegade-hating independent. Seleria grinned. It’s probably true.
      -----------------------------------------------
Eventually she decided to seek out the Zachit commander, and see if further actions against the renegades could still be taken, and whether or not she would be useful for any reason. (Hint to kauthor)

"Alright people, it seems we have a situation about 100 parsecs out. Take a look at this." Zathe manipulated a control on his console and displayed the message that had originated in Zidagar space. "It's courtesy of the Alliance Decryption Agency that we can even read this. I'm not so sure that everyone meant to read this will be able to decrypt it, but our boys managed it. Go ahead, peruse it."

      General Kon chuckled.

"What's so funny, ek Gael?" demanded Admiral Vichama.

"The Zidagar still managed to slant the Azdgari, even as they asked for a reply for help. They misspelled their name." Kon looked at it again. "Several times, and in different ways." He laughed again.

"On a more serious note," cut in Arza in her deadly calm voice, "let's look at what this means. The Igadzra have obviously attacked the Zidagar. That they would make this knowledge public to everyone within receiving range means that they must be on at least tenuous peace terms with the Azdgari, otherwise they would be proclaiming weakness to the raiders. Note that they cooperated with the Azdgari against the renegades, which likely means both Strands' fleets were weakened when the Igadzra attacked. We can likely deduce that the Azdgari are under assault as well, but we can't know that for sure."

Zathe nodded. "Note also the accusation that the Igadzra have assaulted the Miranu and the Zachit. I doubt that statement holds any merit, and I deem it a lie meant to arouse hatred against the Igadzra, rather than sympathy for the Zidagar. How hypocritical of them to speak of deception from the Igadzra. Despicable. We'll ignore the Zidagar and leave them to their fate. If the Igadzra end the Strand War, then future lives will be saved. Let's move on the Consolidation Effort. Go ahead, Vichama."

"Thank you sir. Our shipyards on Tibidat, Duios, Bakoom, Unobot and Groned have been fully refitted. We'll be making an additional 2 Crescent Warships and 3 Laziras each galactic standard week from this point on. The engineering directorates and construction guilds are most pleased, as it has allowed mass employment of the new citizens of the Alliance. Unemployment levels on all Alliance worlds have now reached 0%."

"Excellent. Morale is high. Keep it that way."

"Yes sir. The propagandists have already taken complete control of all broadcast centers and have installed hyperwave relays in all regions of their control. Within the month we'll have complete loyalty from everyone in the area."

"Excellent. Now, let's move on to the recent military technology developments. Researcher Inti, would you report in the swarm missiles?"

"Certainly. The cycleswarm launchers and the corresponding ammunition has been fully developed. The fleets are already outfitted with the weapons, at the cost of some other, less effective weapon systems."

"Well done," applauded General Kon. "Sir, shall we consult the Plan for what to do next?"

"Indeed," replied Zathe as he called up a new image on the display: the Ten Year Plan, guiding force of the Alliance. Already it was ahead of schedule. "It looks like it's time to make our cloak even more effective. Initiate the Emerald Fire and Modamakum Projects. I want them done, with the new technology outfitted on the fleet by the time we are to assault Mavs."

      "Yes sir."

"Speaking of which, let's get planning on this attack against the renegades. Bring in Planner Malsuth."

The green-uniformed strategist walked into the conference chamber and saluted his leaders before taking a seat next to Arza. She smiled at him, although the Planner couldn't tell whether it was malicious or amiable in nature. He chose to ignore her for the moment, although he knew that could be equally deadly as paying attention to the beautiful Kayan.

"Sirs," he began, "the assault on Mavs will likely cost many lives. I propose that we scrap the idea of a simultaneous assault on Mavs and on Neslaut. Instead, we should concentrate our forces and use both our technological superiority and numerical advantages. Just for clarification, we wish to take Histiri Station intact, yes?"

      "Aye Planner Malsuth. Please continue."

"Right sir. Well, I recommend that we use the cycleswarm launchers right away. Empty them completely against the enemy light craft, so that we don't have to face as many guns. I'd recommend complete annihilation of all fighters and renegade aradas in the system from swarm missile fire alone, if it's possible. Then we can use our light craft, supported by the laziras and warships, to wipe out their heavy craft. Troops will then take the station."

"I'll be leading the Death Commandos in that action," commented General Kon absently.

"I agree with your plan Malsuth," stated Arza. "Care to join me for a meal?"

Zathe saw the meeting had ended. "Thank you everybody. Dismissed."

Emerald Fire: Codename for a highly efficient reactor designed to be installed on all Alliance ships. It can facilitate one of the following at any time—but never more than one at once. The Emerald Fire Reactor can boost shield recharge by a moderate amount, increase the overall power of Alliance energy weaponry, or increase fuel regeneration. It is to the latter end that it is mostly being designed, so the reactor will allow highly efficient fuel regeneration. An upgrade to the reactor will likely follow this, but the Supreme Commander wants first generation reactors on all ships when the attacks on Mavs and Neslaut are made. (Begun: 4/16/03) (End: 4/21/03) (This includes the outfitting of all ships with the reactor. It will be installed on all ships built following this point.)

Modamakum: The term used by Inti to describe an ambitious effort to make nanominiaturization effective for the Alliance military. After it is complete, swarm missiles and any other weapon it may apply to will become significantly lighter, due to the efficiency of nanoconstruction. (Begun: 4/16/03) (End: 4/21/03)

Inferno Arsenal: Work progresses smoothly, with the initial prototypes of the weapons being built and tested even now. Several engineering chiefs have been dispatched across the Alliance to instruct industrialists as to how to refit their factories for construction of the new weapons. The power cores have been fully designed, but Inti wants to see slightly more damage coming out of the tests, and has also made sure that the Inferno Arsenal has significantly longer range than phase weaponry. They'll shoot off target, but it doesnt mean they'll shoot wildly. And as for your arrow attack...it was exactly what I wanted you to do. The Igadzra fleet wouldnt have had to chase you then, and you wasted your speed and manoeuvrability advantages. You couldnt have used a worse tactic

And is that your fleet that was in the north tip that just arrived in Molar? I think my reasons for being pissed off remain. And a little renagade tells me the battle is actually still going on, so I wonder how your fleet got away)

      Chak

Fleet Admiral Huan thought back to the battle. The Azdgari charge had been the last thing he'd expected. After all, the only thing it did was throw away the Azdgaris advantages and put the Azdgari within firing range of the phase turrets. Not to mention the hundreds of dispersal rockets. It had been a massacre. The I.Aradas had swooped down on the remenants of the Azdgari fleet, and in literal seconds it had been over. Nothing else could have made the battle so easy for th Igadzra.

Huan looked up back at the display in his office showing an enhanced view of the fleet. The readouts by each ship showed that most of the fleet had been resupplied with ammunittion. Hopefully the improved tracking systems would cause the Azdgari some pain.

He hit a control and the display changed to showing the planet, colour coded to show the areas of control. The fighting was going well, the fleet in orbit to support the troops fighting on the planet. The Azdgari fighted poorly, used to as they were to fleeing when things got too tough for them. The planet was a treasure trove of items, it being the greatest armoury the Azdgari had. Already items where being shipped out of the system and back to Igadzra for the scientists to have a look at.

      ----

      Duidir

The Igadzra fleet, having torn the charging Azdgari ships to pieces much like in Chak, set about destroying the raiding outpost. It had nothing of worth on it, and would only be a thorn in the Igadzras side should it be retaken.

The fleet vanished into hyperspace, heading for Mark, for resupply and rearming. After that, it would continue the Igadzras attacks, increased in size with the latest additions to the fleet.

      ----

      Apert

The Igadzra fleet had left the system, heading for Chak, leaving behind the debris of the Azdgari fleet, and the station dead in space. It was a wreck, holes torn in it. With heavy refitting it might be used again. The Igadzra had little use for it, but being Igadzra they staked a claim to the system.

      ----

      Vastan

The Igadzra fleet paused for a moment after its third volley of SAEs went out. They'd decimated the remaining Zidagar fleet easily. They hadnt had a chance. Then a fourth volley of SAEs went off, targetting the planet. It was a military outpost, and destroying its infrastructure would cripple a fair portion of the Zidagar ship building effort.

After a few more such bombardments, the Igadzra fleet paused. The planet was ruined. It would take a major rebuilding effort to use it for anything else again.

      --

Hours later the Zidagar reinforcements arrived. The Igadzra fleet, seeing it was outnumbered, fled the scene. Heading for Innirian, it knew the Zidagar wherre damned if they followed, and damned if they stayed.

Proconsul Riven looked on with distaste as the Renagade ship landed. He did not like renagades anymore than anyone else, but they could prove useful. Settling his expression back to the normal disdain Igadzra show, he walked forwards to the ship, watching as a ramp extended and a renagade walked down it.

The renagade looked Riven up and down then spoke. "The people I represent will give you our new ship designs, in addition to what we've already given you. All we ask is for your assistance."

Riven sniffed before replying. "The Igadzra accept your offer, and I'm sure we can improve this new ship of your considerably. For now, all we can offer in return is our Long Range Sensor distorter. You may find it usefull. At current it needs a rather large installation to be used, but it prevents the enemy knowing what you are upto until you enter an uncleared system. Perhaps you can make a smaller version of it so it can be used on a ship. We plan to at some stage, but other considerations have come first.

"As for assisting you, you should find the Azdgari and Zidagar fleets in significant trouble fairly soon. They've both experienced fleet losses, and the Azdgari have lost several systems. Until we have made more progress however, we will be unable to help you more directly."

      ----

      1. Long Range Sensor Distorter :
In order to stop its enemies knowing what it was upto, the Igadzra developed a system capable of turning long range sensor readouts into static. Basically filling the wavelengths that allow long range sensors to operate with noise, the Igadzra have made it possible for them to move their fleets about without anyone knowing what they're doing. By using a rotating frequency, the Igadzra are able to keep their long range sensors working perfectly.

      2. SAE Upgrade :
A basic upgrade to the SAE, mainly improving its tracking systems. The basic tracking hardware has been refined, and the tracking software has been improved using data from battle reports. The major upgrade however is a short distance comm system, linking the SAEs launched by the Igadzra together. By collating the data from each SAEs tracking sensors, an enemies jamming systems are reduced significantly in effect. The warhead strength has been slightly increased, although not by much of a noticeable amount.

      3)Igazdra Beam:
      Started:14/4/03. Completion 21/4/03

      4)Igadzra LIDAR Array
With the new jamming systems of the Azdgari making turret fire innaccurate, Igadzran scientists have returned to the basics. A low level laser beam is shot out, and based on its return, targetting systems can achieve far higher accuracy rates. The Azdgaris jamming system will have exactly nil effect on the new targetting array, the system being completely different from those currently used.

      Chapter 14: Negotiations

      Tibidat

The Igadzra representative landed and was greeted by an Alliance delegate. They exchanged greetings, and quickly moved on to the conference hall in Tibidat City.

"So, what is the Igadzra proposition?" asked Alliance Negotiator Tra'jun.

"Our position is simple," replied the Igadzra, Kyhanuto. "We've seen reports of your recent technological developments, and would like to acquire some of your technology. In exchange, we offer territory, in the form of Hrinix and the recently conquered system of Apert, as well as some of our technology that you are no doubt familiar with by now—the Long Range Field Distorter. We will also formalize a peace treaty between our two peoples."

"Stating that neither of us are to attack the other, or do anything that may cause harm to the other."

      "Exactly."

"That sounds excellent. What technology are you interested in? We could offer you our swarm missile systems, or our subspacial cloaking device."

The Igadzra's eyes lit up at the sound of the cloak, and he expressed his interest in that piece of technology. "We'd also like to acquire the tracking systems in your swarm missiles, in addition to the cloak."

"Certainly. You have copies of the blueprints on how to make your Distorters with you, I presume."

"Of course. One final note," cautioned Kyhanuto. "We'd appreciate it if you did not engage the Distorter in Hrinix, for security reasons."

Tra'jun thought for a moment. "That is acceptable. I believe that finishes it. Thank you for your time, and may our joint efforts ever be this efficient."

"Indeed. May our alliance ever be fruitful."

The two stood up and clasped hands. Later that day, after the Alliance had given the Igadzra the cloak and swarm missile tracking system instructions, the Igadzra handed Tra'jun the claim papers for Hrinix and Apert, as well as a copy of the treaty and blueprints for the Distorter.

The Igazdra (filthy swine) have completely obliterated 6 billion civilians. They have committed genocide. All of my forces are doing their best to ward of the greatest evil in the galaxy. We will NOT WIN ALONE. We need aid before this menace destroys everything.

      Attack Fleet
      Attacking Ersadt
Apparently when the Zidagar arrived there were no ships in Ersadt so they took all of the people on the planet and stored them in the cargo holds. Then the planet was unoccupied they destroyed all of the industrial/ military bases. Then with no one harmed, they headed of to vasten. Then all of the POW's were released on the planet (in the areas that had breathable air) and they were forced to work.

People of the Igazdra nation.(on the planet vastan) We have taken you here because we needed a POW camp and we didn't want to kill you. (Growls) We want you to farm and make your own living on this wasteland you created. So you are already stripped of all weapons and you will farm your living. In addition, all of you are to be quarantined in-groups 100. There is no technology and the weapons you have used have stripped this planet of its natural recourses. So we will monitor everything and if you build tech we will destroy it and isolate you from everyone (AKA jail) with a proper trial of coarse. You will have freedom and we will keep your families with you. I hope you enjoy your stay.

    • (OOC:One, you'd have to be a compelte idiot to say I didnt have any ships in Ersadt. Two, you should check what you're actually attacking. It's a station used as a trading outpost to trade with the Miranu. I attack your military base, you attack my trading outpsiot with traders on it. Well done. You just completed an act of war on the Miranu.)

      Vastan
The Zidagar had done exactly what the Igadzra would never do. They'd attacked a civilian base full of traders and taken them prisoner. The fact many Miranu Traders had been among those taken prisoner obviously hadnt mattered to the Zidagar.

Now the Igadzra fleet arrived. The First Armada, assigned extra ships from the Innarian reserves, and the Third and Fifth Armadas arrived, the reserves from Mark attached to the Third Armada. Over 200 Igazras strong, and over 300 I.Aradas, the combined fleet was the largest the Igazra had ever sent against its enemies.

And then the first volley of SAEs was shot. Over 1000 headed through space towards the Zidagar fleet. And with the upgraded sensors, less needed to be targetted at each Zidara. 87 of them vanished at once in a fireball, tilting the odds even further. By the time the Zidagar fleet could close, another volley would be shot off, and then a third when they finally got near themselves. And then the dispersal rockets would fire and tear into the Zidagars leading ships.

      Igadzra Fleet:
      238 Igazras
      327 I.Aradas

Apparently in revenge for the destruction of a military base from which attacks have been launched against the Igadzra many times, the Zidagar took it upon themselves to destroy the one system near them that was no threat. Ships dispatched from Threefrog to check the system have found the remains of the station, and no sign of any of the civilians. It is believed the Zidagar have taken them all prisoner. We hope the Zidagar have not embarked on the killing of civilians, but signs are not good.

Fleet Admiral Huan gazed over his fleet and smiled. While the Azdgari offensive ahd been delayed for a short while while the Zidagar fleet was crushed, his fleet had never looked better. The Azdgari would find their jammers only half as effective the next time he met them in battle. Luckily the Azdgari had no idea what was going on in the system, the Long Range Distorter now fully online.

      2. Alliance Cloak :
Technology gained from a trade with the Akrayhek Alliance, the claok is expected to become standard fitting in Igadzran ships.

      1)SAE Upgrade:
A basic upgrade to the SAE, mainly improving its tracking systems. The basic tracking hardware has been refined, and the tracking software has been improved using data from battle reports. The major upgrade however is a short distance comm system, linking the SAEs launched by the Igadzra together. By collating the data from each SAEs tracking sensors, an enemies jamming systems are reduced significantly in effect. The warhead strength has been slightly increased, although not by much of a noticeable amount.

    • Due to lack of excitement, Seleria was still hanging around Kirk's office when he sent the transmission to the Voinians. She made up her mind to stick around and watch the outcome of the meeting, and as much of the actual meeting as possible, whether she was invited or not. She was very curious, the Voinians were the race she had had the least contact with so far.

    • Tinar

With a burst of light the First Armada appeared in the Tinar system, and had fired its SAEs within seconds. And unlike the last battle against the Azdgari, a lot more of these hit. The 13 ships targetted, even though a full half of the SAEs still went off course, exploded into so much debris.

The Igadzra fleet had arrived in its typical shell formation, which had proved death to the Azdgari strikes in previous battles. The sheer amount of firepower concentrated in such a small area was deadly. And if the Azdgari attempted to just charge the fleet, they'd find out how nasty dispersal rockets could be enmass. Any concentrated attack would die from the explosive radius they had.

And the best thing was the Igadzra fleet could return to Chak before the Azdgari got anywhere near the place, even if the battle took days.

Chapter 15: Delivering on the Contract

Zathe ek Daal was in his element. The Igadzra had brought corroborating evidence to confirm his suspicions that the Zidagar were war criminals and needed to be brought to justice. He ordered Admiral Vichama and Colonel Arza to deal with this menace and support their Igadzra allies.

General Kon would remain to command the battle against the Mavs infestation.
