With the lack of availible players, Ipvicus and Solel decided just to cut out the Crescent (the strands, miranu, north and south tip, etc.) from the story. At my insistence, I was allowed to create this, which explains how this happened. All of the following has been cleared by Ipvicus and Solel, excluding a few nitpicks which we're just going to ignore.
------------
After the defeat of the Strandless Redemption League military by the South Tip Conclave, the rulers of the League were quick to submit to the will of the Conclave and of their allies, the Azdgari. As Conclave isolationism continued to increase, the relations between the Miranu and Azdgari improved somewhat but never reached the level of friendliness that had once existed between the League and Miranu.
It was during this time that the Zidagar at last fell to the Azdgari, and at last the Azdgari reached its largest ever held borders. Though the majority of the Zidagar people seemed to accept their occupation, the majority of them still resented the Azdgari and plotted at once to free themselves.
After some time, the League rulers, still stinging from their humiliating defeat at the hands of their ?inferior? allies, began secretly rebuilding their naval forces. Concealing this military buildup from the Conclave who periodically went into League space to ensure that they did not come to power again.
Sending out their spies, the League soon made contact with Igadzra and Zidagar dissidents, who were also angry with the Azdgari and Miranu. The Secret Alliance was now formed, and together the three races began to build up vast armies and fleets of ships, all hidden from the eyes of the Azdgari, who believed that they were undefeatable.
As the months weared on and the League, Zidagar, and Igadzra appeared to exist peacefully, the Azdgari and Miranu entered into a period of complacency. They distanced themselves from the conflicts of the UE, Voinians, and Emalgha, and believed they had entered into the golden age of their civillizations. It was not to be.
After several years, the Secret Alliance had built up adequate forces for their first strike. Integrating technology stolen from the Azdgari and Miranu, they were at last ready. The only thing they were waiting for now was the departure of the Conclave, whom they believed could pose a major threat if they attacked the Azdgari and Miranu. At last, they did. Their colony ships completed, the Conclave civillian population left the Milky Way. However, the plans of the Secret Alliance went awry, as the Conclave left behind a sizable force of ships. A way to defeat them as well would have to be reached.
It came in the form of Admiral Nakara, an unhappy Conclave officer with a bad service record. Contacted by the League, Nakara offered to supply the Secret Alliance with technology, tactical information, and ways to defeat Conclave technology. After several more months, the Secret Alliance was indeed ready.
It happened without warning. Seemingly out of nowhere, fleets of League Ships struck out into Conclave and Azdgari space. The battlefleets sent to stop them were defeated, but most of the Azdgari fleets placed in Zidagar and Igadzra space never made it out of their systems, for the Zidagar and Igadzra appeared with their own fleets.
The war went horribly at first, but soon it began to even out as the Miranu began to enter the conflict. The losses for the Azdgari, Conclave, and Miranu were still severe. The Conclave took the brunt of the wrath of the League, and it was not long before they were defeated utterly. Within another month, the last Conclave ship had been destroyed. The whole of Azdgari space, with the exception of the Azdgari core worlds, was devastated beyond belief. The Miranu at last sent all their ships into Azdgari and League space, and in a gigantic battle which took place in multiple systems on the same day, the fleets of the Secret Alliance and of the Miranu and Azdgari essentially self-annihilated each other.
The war would have continued indefinitely, if it were not for the intervention of the long dormant council. Seeing that the strands would indeed destroy themselves, and their neighbors the Miranu, in their huge war, they at last decided to stop the war. The leaders of all the involved governments were called to Gadzair, where during a 8-hour meeting a peace proposal was at last reached. The terms, however, were harsh. The majority of the remaining warships were destroyed or handed over to the Council, who would put down any war that any of the governments began.
Another term the Council set down was for the good of the UE, Emalgha, and Voinians. The Council feared that it would not be long before the UE, Emalgha, and Voinians were brought into the conflict, which could set off another unstoppable war. Because of this, they had all hyperspace links to the entirety of the Crescent sealed off. And thus, the Crescent disappeared to the UE, Emalgha, Voinians, and their own close-by neighbors.
