    • RedMage - Not really. Describe the battle.

ESPilot - Keep in mind some of us have never seen/battled the Dreadnought. Though if it's anything harder than the Voinian Dreadnought, good job! 🙂

    • OK, I have another battle story to tell. This may be like some of those Zidagar stories, where the emotions run at dangerous levels for humans, so beware. 😄

I was in my Icewind Falcon, on my way to Emalghia to make contact with the Emalghions. After a few fun battles with the space-logs in UE space, I thought I'd help out the little guy. I jumped in, landed on Emalghia, and went into the bar. As I expected, I got the mission. This mission ends with you defending Emalgha from a Voinian Fleet. I took off, and was pumped. I was going to be like an axe chopping a tree down in this battle. The fleet arrived. However, when I took off, two extra Voinian Frigates were already in Emalgha. My backup arrived: 5 or 6 Emalgha Fighters. The Voinians arrived: 1 Voinian Cruiser, and 4 Voinian Frigates + the two that were already there. This means it was Me + 6 Emalgha Fighters vs 1 Voinian Cruiser + 4 Voinian Heavy Fighters + 6 Voinian Frigates. I battled with the Heavy Fighters while the little wood-beetles gave their lives. All 6 were dead by the time I finished off 2 Heavy Fighters, equivalent to about a minute or so.I finished the 4 rocks off, with 85% armor or so. I saw that the majority of the fleet was stacked. 4 Voinian Frigates were VERY stacked, and 2 loose Frigates were almost orbiting the Cruiser, who was in the middle of the whole fleet. I figured I should go after the biggest threat: Mr. Cruiser.

I targeted him, shot him, and got a response of a barage of rockets. I began dodging and circling wildly, and only a total of 7 rockets or so hit me, before they stopped. I got phase fire in on the guy when I could. When they stopped firing rockets, I began to make constant circles around the whole fleet. This made the Cruiser pretty much stand still, rotating; and the Frigates kept moving around and around so they could hit me. I dodged most of the neutron fire. About 3 minutes or so later of semi-constant phase fire and neutron dodging, another Voinian Frigate hypers in, and joins the fleet. Now I had some more rockets coming after me. When he joined, I was pretty much at a stand still of 50% armor. I had trouble doding the new rockets, and quite a few hit me, but I was able to regain my armor enough before another hit not to do any severe damage to me. Eventually, he stopped firing rockets, and I went back to dodging neutron and firing phase. Finally, after about five more minutes of this circling/dodging/firing session, I disabled the Cruiser. I thought "HAHA! I should have this battle under my belt now!" and I went in to finish him off. Next I went for the two lone frigates, who seemed to have bonded together. I was met with a few more rockets from the semi-new guy, but he quickly stopped. I isolated him, circled, fired, and dodged for a few minutes, and he blew up. I was working on the second lone voinian, when I saw a big dot coming from the bottom of the radar. I was north of the planets, and now knew the fleet was getting reinforcements. I saw no fighters, so I knew another Frigate had joined. I was being bombarded by neutron fire by the lone voinian, and had trouble dodging it. This guy's captain must have been a smarter one when it comes to 1 on 1. The newest voinian caught up with the group just as I finished the current guy off. The group was quickly (for voinians) approaching the disabled frigate. Good timing! As soon as they were around the frigate, it finished blowing up, and probably gave some big dents to a few frigates. By this time, I was in the danger zone. I was hovering around 25% armor, and slowly, SLOWLY, recharging. I saw a lone voinian, and went after him. I was met with rockets AND neutron fire. I knew this was the new guy, and a smart one. This guy also knew how aim undodgable rockets. I dodged a few, BAM! I met contact with it. I dodged a few more, BAM! Contact. Although I was trying to shoot as much as possible, I was also trying to dodge and keep my distance as well as I could. He stopped firing rockets, and switched to bombard me with neutron. I took some hits, and this brought me into EXTREME MEGA DEATH DANGER GET OUT OF THERE zone! The voinian then launched a rocket, and it was heading right for me. I couldn't get out of the way in time. BAM! Klaxxons begin screaming, I panic, I know it is over. KA-BOOM! The Icewind Falcon is no more.

      Lousy Voinians! 🙂

    • Stud Beefpile- There is an interesting technique with space mines that works on most ships. If you are a little bit ahead of your target (You cannot see him on screen) all you have to do is release the mines, and wait for your enemy to run into them, trying follow you. (Takes the offered drink)

    • Hmm.....I see your point. Voinians can be annoying sometimes, and that was quite good to have taken out 2 frigates and Cruiser in the Crescent Fighter without landing. And I also see your point on none of you (well, I can't really say that since I don't know whether I'm the only one with GS or not) have seen the Rebel Dreadnought, though it was even harder than the Voinian Dreadnought due to the masses of fighters it spat out along with the escorts that jumped in immediately after it, and it actually had guided weaponry (torpedos to be precise) unlike the Voinian Dreadnought. No new stories yet, but I'm working on that!!
