Well, some of our warships carry helicopters, but I think a full-scale aircraft carrier would be rather expensive for the Canadian defence budget, although in this post-11 September world of increased military spending, you can never tell. I don't know the numbers, but Canada has a military around whenever it's needed, so it's not all that reserve-based.

After I thought about it for a while I realized that an aircraft carrier wouldnt help you guys out much anyway. From what I see Canada's military forces are mostly defense oriented, and since I don't think you have any colonial interests to look after it would be silly to have a carrier. Any air defense you could need could be launched just fine from land bases. Carriers are for projecting world power, and since Canada likes to not bankrupt themselves in expensive stupid wars they don't really have a need to project their power worldwide.

Sorry for disturbing the story's pre-writting process, but here is my opinion about our military.
First, Canada only has its small buziness to run, SAR and stopping a few asiatic refugees boats per year!
Second, peacekeeping to argue that we need an valuable army. A better reason would be to protect out northern coast from any non-cdn boat that tries to pass oil and sinks accidentally without any insurances.We could use some ice breakers with a few guns.
The career thing does not make sense: it cost as much as all cash save from the deficit and request an escort as big as out current navy! Another nonsense would be to equip our air force with B-2 bombers...
spl, you should know that non-nuclear subs make less noise than nuclear sub when they are using their fuelcell, high pressure diesel, electric motors since they don't have to cool these machines.

It is more of a designation than a statement, for example: You could infultrate a Confed base in disguise, and then learn whatever secrets the Confeds are talking about.
