    • Fades in Mask Interface File

      Okay, I've tried to make it work, but it doesn't seem to be happening........so I figured that I would bring it here. Is it or is it not possible to have a dropshadow effect for the interface, and if so, how do you mask it properly?

    • For the main interface? My experience is no. The other game interfaces seem to work because they are seen within the game area, where white is transparent.

    • Maybe if you made the main interface a png file with transparent background. In photoshop, use the drop shadow thing and set the opacity to... anything. You've probably tried it already, but anyway ;). Dont know if it works though, I'm not very good with photoshop... G'luck

      Yep, tried it already. Doesn't work. I can't get it to show up other than a weird black outline......is there anyway to fake a drop shadow?

      If you dont use your player portrait, you can have it over the game area and in the beginning, change it to one with a dropshadow 🙂 Could work...

      The player portrait is being used.

    • Well... you can try just making the shadow on the interface and exporting as PNG from photoshop 7 or higher. The shadow wouldn't be able to actually go onto the game screen though... (as the the playable area goes on top of your interface pic i think...). You can try though... Just make sure you use PNG and export from PS 7 or higher.

    • Another option: Try placing the dropshadow effect in the player animation itself. If you did it correctly, it would appear to stay stationary while the character moved around. This may slow down game performance, but if it didn't, it would work rather well i'd think.

    • { retraction }

      simply put inorder for there to be gradation in transparency in a map interfac you must perforate teh areas to be transparent, this means;

      using a black and white pattern fill available in apple works, or the dissolve blending mode in photoshop
      fill the desired area.

      you may only use black and white as the mask and map interfaces are treated as pict grpahics, which due to CGE's speed issues when it comes to loading png ( they could use a better png library for the next update )...etc. fill in teh blank.

      This would make sense, but how slow are we talking here? Would it make the game unplayable? I am probably going to test this over the weekend, but I am getting feedback before I do so. Thanks to all who have helped thus far.
