    • Does anyone know if the beam damage for the EVC engine is cumilative like in EVN?

    • No, and the fact that it stacks in EVN is a bug.

    • It's a bug that 2 beams do twice the damage of 1 beam?

    • Yes. The powers of each beam + x2 beams=no balance.

      No - thats correct behavior.
There is a bug where 2 beams do four times the damage of 1 beam. This happens only with beams that have a long count, it seems.
As for EVC, i havent a clue - you develping for EVC?

    • Yes, it's a bug, and the bug has been fixed. It will be correct in 1.0.8 (or 1.0.71 or 1.1 or whatever he's calling it).

Why are you developing for EVC? The audience is for EVN, and EVC is like "maneuvering a boat into a moving dock in the middle of the night with only half a pint of gas" (—Neil Armstrong, speaking about rendezvous in space; specifically, Gemini 8 and Agena) compared to EVN.

I guess the former reason doesn't apply if you're developing something for personal use, but the latter still stands either way.

you would be wrong there. Probably there are plenty of people who would be willing to go back to EV/O for a while to play a good TC. I'm one of them. There are also people who don't like EV3 and/or Override. They only play EV. There is still a large audience for EVC. albeit, the audience for Nova is so much larger that EV and EVO are pushed into the backround.

    • Depends - I wouldn't develop for EV or EVO only (something I'm willing to do when I get more freaking time) but also for the ports to the Nova engine, especially regarding the PC users. When you are in the development process, it's easier to adapt to the new engine as you're writing (compared to porting old plugs or even the EVO scenario itself) so I don't see why I wouldn't develop for the ports as I'm at it.

As for a TC, develop for EV would enable older Macs to run it, but that's about all the advantages, I don't need to tell you of the drawbacks. Come on, if you're a serious developper there is no reason you would be able to write an for the EV engine and not Nova's one, it's more complicated but not that much more.

I beg to differ. I probably won't ever register Nova, so I will never be able to make, or play plugs on it. I would consider registering only if the EVO TC worked on macintosh EV3.

I'm wierd in that the simplicity of the classic Engine used in EVC and EVO appeals to me. I prefer to develop in that simple way, even though it wouldn't be hard for me to learn how to use nova's new features and make some cool stuff. I don't think that nova is bad or anything like that, It just doesn't apeal to me.

actually, I wish ambrosia would re-issue Escape Velocity and EV Override in the Nova Engine. Devoid of the bugs that I've heard there are in the ports. Maybe Ambrosia could add new, improved graphics on par with the Nova graphics. The possibilitys are almost endless with the new engine.

There are alot fewer people developing for EVC, That's true. But if someone decides to make a TC for EV or EVO, I can see people who have the option, (meaning mac people) leaving Nova for a while to play it.

Don't worry, we're working on it as you may see...

As for new graphics, it's up to 3rd party plugs.

Oh heck, I'd say we're already there. 🙂 Yeah, there is a surprising amount of important fine-tuning still needed, but you could already have a blast playing through most (and maybe all) of the major mission strings in the EVO port even before we started releasing the various fix plugs.

As to graphics -- Captain Skyblade's Cold Fusion graphics have already been ported, and at least two other people (Coraxus and Ewan/Jules) are currently working on their own replacement EVO port ship sets, as well.

All of that is for the Nova EVO port. I don't follow EVC port issues as closely, but iI've gotten the sense that it is in even better shape in terms of bugs. Not sure what has been done for its graphics, though....
