No, Matt only implemented negative accuracy as an afterthought fairly late in development for a particular effect. Hence, he had no reason to apply it to beams, which appear to work in an entirely different way - he would have had to write the negative inaccuracy handleing for both projectiles AND for beams. Why would he bother to do this? Remember, this feature origionally wasnt even documented in the nova bible. It was only when someone here spesificly asked about making something fire sideways (spesificly, asked about the exact effect Matt put it in for) and Matt happened to read it and said something to the effect of "I remember adding this in".
Stormcrow, an engine that does everything you want is not your devine right, and it is kind of annoying when you act as if it is. Especially when you are using an undocumented feature - such a feature is inherrantly provided as is with no garantees.
If we had an engine that did everything everyone wanted, we would have 100+ NCB opperators, integrated counters, no limits on any resource, and descs that write themselves. Stop complaining, and be darned happy Matt revealed this feature to us at all - its a really nifty effect.
Zzap: EVNEW can be used to enter -180 into the beam's inaccuracy field. That doesnt make the beam fire backwards. You can design a flying house, but that doesnt mean the constructed house would be able to fly.
