The annoying person everybody is talking about is probably Zaku, I don't think I've seen a singe topic of his that hasn't gotten locked.

I defeted the dreadnought in an azdara, not remarkable, but capturing it with one% odds was.

I dunno the problem. That pilot was for 1.0.1, could that be the problem?

Pretty much everything else can be done, albeit via Monty Python, but the AI infinite afterburner never helps!

AI Infinite Afterburner? Is that why crescent fighters were able to outrun my Arada with Engine upgrade even when I was leaning on the afterburner? That was really pissing me off!

There are certain crescent fighters, in certain missions, who do use their afterburner better than others.
They only add to the challenge anyways, otherwise EVO would've been to easy, no? 🙂

To true, but its unrelistic. Most ships do run out of afterburner eventually. I remember watching Voinian Heavy fighters rocket towards me, then suddenly slow down.

If this game would be realistic, we would never be able to overcome more than 3-5 ships max, and if that was the case, the game would be rather difficult.
EVO is unrealistic, that's the way it is, still a great game, so why care....?

Wellllll  I don't really want it to be relistic. But could it be unrelistic on my side?

    • Imagine my amazement. I haven't been here in over a year (or years?), and today, when I come staggering back to this board, I see that some people still remember my (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/webboard/Forum8/HTML/002739.html")challenge(/url) from years ago. Wow.

Well, big ups to anyone who's still hanging around that's been here that long.

Man, I should really drop by here more often - guess this is what happens when you work all the time. Best regards to all...

Who you callin' "newbie?" I've been posting since (url="http://"http://www.escape-velocity.com")www.escape-velocity.com(/url).

    • Heh, well - how could we forget it :)? It created renewed interest in the game for quite a while there. But just looking back at the topic shows how long ago it was - I was using a mac emulator! I've had an iBook for over 2 years now :0. It's just a shame that Nova wasn't as good as it could have been, or we could have done another such challenge on that.

But yes, it is an interesting coincidence that you were passing by this way. In fact, this thread has brought out a few old names, which is never a bad thing :).

    • Well, except for you and Paradigm most of the people from this thread this posts quite often 😛

Uh, not really anything to brag about, but anyways....

    • Heh, okay then - I didn't realise you still posted that much. I guess that just shows how little I do :). I guess more accurate would be to say that pretty much all of the more established posters that are still around have a post in this thread ... oh now it's just getting confusing!

At least you can brag about your karma anyway ;).

    • I heard somewhere that fighters in nova are only shot at by point defence weapons, or was it that defense fleets only use point defences on fighters? Or maybe that was something from nova 1.0.1? (Ignore me ;))

    • I know there's a flag in the weap resource that tells the AI not to shoot this seeking weapon at ships with a certain speed/accel/turn, or something like that. Never seemed to stop the AI from wasting me with missiles, though.

After recently completing the Crew Of One challenge in my kickass Crescent Fighter, I decided to try something similar with my Miranu Missile Frigate (Miranu Heavy Freighter with lots of mass expansions and missiles).

      It was freakin' HARD!!!

I roamed around with two Aradas as wingmen for most of the game. Defeating the Voinians was easy: even the Dreadnaught isn't that tough when you've got 90 rockets on hand. The Igazdra string was tougher; one shipful of Azdaras brings the pain even with shield upgrades and Dospect armor. I managed to get through the string, though.

Then we come to the Zachit missions...oy vey. Most were doable until the final mission to Destroy the Rock.

      Im-Freakin-Possible!!

I must have tried it thirty times. As soon as I warp in, 20 crescent fighters ruin my day. I tried hiring six crescent warships, but that just meant that 10 crescent fighters ruined my day instead. My Zachit compatriots didn't help much at all.

I finally got frustrated and cheated out of spite. I made a plugin so that I could have unlimited turrets, then loaded that bad dog up with 5 phase, 5 blaze, and 6 neutrons. I managed to win, but even that took two or three tries. That mission is rough in an Igazdra; my hat's off to anyone who manages it in a Freighter or Shuttle. I'm not worthy!

      HJ
(Was easy in my Crescent Fighter, though.)

    • Sorry to be a bit late, but Miranu defence pods can really help you against masses of fighters. In a Miranu Heavy Missile Frigate, you can load many of them.
