whats everyones favorite ships here's mine:
Azdara
primary weapons:4 swivel phases
Sensors/Jamming:all, including needle
Other :Dospect armor, Agadzri Upgrade

I took out the rock on my first try with this thing, there might have been other upgrades, but I'm not sure

you rock, I've been waiting for somebody to do this.

my favorite ship is hands down the turncoat. upgraded with phase, a couple of shield generators, dospect, jamming, and Pursuit missiles instead of needle missiles and of course a speed upgrade along with enough mass expantions to cover it all. I've taken down creasent warships in my turncoat.

the only other ship that comes near it would be the Zidara. but because of its smaller amount of upgrade space I usually stick with my turncoat.

I know I rock, anyways
the thing that make my ship so great is its almost invincable,
first of all most enemy ships use phase weapons, almost everyone knows phase suck vs. armor
second my ship has 520 (i think it was 520) armor so it can take a lot of punishment
third Azdara regenerate shields/armor extremely fast (isn't it like 20 a second or something)
fourth it is extremely fast and can out run nearly anything (i've heard that once you get certain combat rating some ships get speed boosts)
fifth the swivel phases are EASY to aim and most aliends use sheilds which phase own

my turncoat is heavily upgraded and i even chose to keep it over a captured Igazra, so i guess you can say that it is my favorite. (i did make a plugin however to allow me to sell the krait bay, allowing me to fit more outfits and weapons.) although i would hardly call it a cheat. the krait bay is useless, and it is just dumb that it couldn't be sold :p. anyways, i fitted the turncoat with phase weapons, several upgrades, and SAD modules. at this point i am considering selling the SAD modules and getting pursuit missles.

I have two favorite ships... One, is a ship I call the Miner...

It's a miranu courier with maneuverability upgrades and mass expansions, 2 voinian mine layers and a bunch of mines.... I'll lay an intricate pattern of mines around a planet, go to the opposite side of the system, and demand tribute... muah ha ha...

Second is the Voinian Frigate...
I sell everything off of it, buy maneuverability upgrades, load up on neutron weapons Dispersal Rockets...(good for charging strand warships... )

As far as maneuverability, my zidara escorts take out any fighters that get too close..

There is that whole Azdara way to go. I couldn't fly it worth a crap personally. Then again I'm not a very great pilot in any of the Nova games- I liked my IDA Frigate in Nova...

I enjoyed the Igazra and the UE Cruiser quite a lot. That's the path I happened to choose my first time through.

I do have a question for you all. Is there any way to get/upgrade or even capture that enhanced Arada I spotted in the data files? Is it used by a pers or something? I have never seen one, though I am far from playing through all the strand possibilities. I admit I made a teensy plugin that let me try it out- man those shields charge quick- I gotta get me one of those (all legit-like that is).

The Enhanced azdara is part of the Adzgari mission string. you can never have it legitamitly.

My favorite ship? I would have to go with the Freight-Courier. You can get it without doing any missions, and it isn't too expensive, and has high speed for a human ship. I max out the cannons and turrets, sometimes blaze, sometimes neutron (I modify the game so you can carry both cannons and turrets :)) then I get needle missiles (cheap and don't weigh much) or hunter missiles (have great range). Sometimes I also get armor and shield upgrades. It has a great cargo space for hauling too, or changing into weapon space.

I actually was asking about the enhanced arada, that wacky little dunce cap with wings. I saw the enhanced adzara too, but figured if I couldn't fly the regular one, well...

Cool... So, what's your technique for disabling a ship with no shields?

Also, people find it difficult to keep a supply of SAE Modules without doing the igadzra plot... I never had a problem with it. I would get igadzras as escorts, and when I'm low on ammo, release them, disable them, steal the ammo, then capture them again.

And since we're talking about getting the coolest ship you can get, how about the dreadnought? I've captured it before. It's a fun escort when you get 4... that's a LOT of intercepters flying around. You get the mission, capture the ship, and then I forgot if it showed up again or if I had to abort and take it again... but I know I still have the pilot file around here...

I've done that before. I captured it in an Azdara in fact. You have to abort the mission and that makes the UE really mad. Of course you can blast them with your new Super powers, but you can't get the mission again. I suggest making a copy of your pilot file first.

If you want to learn how to become a good pilot:
1.trash your big heavy ship
2.buy an arada
3.after used to arada buy upgrades
4.occasionally fly on 2x speed
5.get used to afterburner
6.by now you should be used to high speed
7.buy an azdara
8.after used to azdara do steps 3-5 except use azdara
9.buy the azdara you actually want to use, and outfit it how you want

congradulations you can now fly well (swivel weapons suggested)

I was pleasantly surprised the last time I flew a Scoutship (with added needles and/or some Crescent goodies, of course) -- I got pretty far along in the mission strings before upgrading to an Arada. The Scout is nice and narrow, which makes it harder to hit!

Yup, you can capture an enhanced Arada towards the end of the Azdgari(sp) string. During one of the last battles, there are a few of them in the system, and thusly you can go over and capture them.

They have insanely high shield regen, and after slapping dospect on it (creating insanely high armor regen), they pretty much own the crescent, if not all of space.
