    • FROZEN HEART QUERIES

What is Martin Turner's current web site address (for the Frozen Heart)?
The one at "unforgettable.com" doesn't seem to be working.
Also, does anyone know what graphics program Martin Turner used for "The Frozen Heart"?
What exactly are the codes to unlock the encrypted documents?
Why is this plug-in so well-known and groundbreaking?

I don't think there is an official FH website at this time.

I'm not sure, although I believe he used Bryce to do the landscapes. I think he answers this in the documentation.

Those will be revealed at the proper time when you've progressed in the plug-in.

If I were to give the answer justice, I'd be here all night. I suggest you play it and find out. 🙂

Grammar may be power, but topics in all caps are frowned upon here. No worries, just don't do it again. 🙂

It's not like EVO where you do stuff, and get into a random mission string here and there. It has, like, serious plot. And depth, and atmosphere, and character... it feels much more real than EVO. And the graphics and sounds are better. Some people don't like it because there's just one set story, but that's fine with me.

Oh, yeah, and attractive females, even if you only get to read about them 😉
(I took out the movies due to crashing)

But UEC's right. I'm in way over my head.

    • Yes I'm sure there are a lot of us who could wax lyrical about the merits of FH for quite a while. But really exactly what was so good is hard to explain or pin down. In short, it is the only TC plugin that I've played right through - twice even - and it would still be great fun if I did so again. The cool thing is that while it is just one story, a lot of it doesn't always happen in the same order, and you also have to think about what missions to take due to time constraints. I think for the just one story it has, there is more replay value in it than in Nova (not quite more than EVO though, I think :)).

The great uses of special ships and things - fixed gun platforms, asteroids, gas storms, a black hole.. they all really add atmosphere to the galaxy, as does the fact that you actually explore most of it as you progress through the game.

The addition of the encrypted documents is also kind of cool - especially the second one, which was absolutely necessary as 50 odd pages would be hard to fit in mission text boxes :)!

To cut a long story short, you really need to play it to understand! Basically, while you don't get to change stuff like system governments (as you do in EVO), you do get to change your life!

    • I also notice that there are a hell of a lot of references from the Greek Mythological stories of "The Golden Fleece"; Anybody else notice this?

Heh. Well, Yoshimura, maybe you were thinking of some other source for those allusions...if you said what they were we might be able to figure out where they really were from.

    • This is kinda off topicc but I have my own Frozen heart Query, if you fail the Black hole mission (I just wanted to see what happend) is there any way to go back without restarting? I've tried to extend the deadline, Ive tried to set aborts to be possible, and Ive tried to change the bit it sets when you fail the mission, nothing works! All help would be appreciated.
Also, Im not sure whast happened but I never got the code for the archeologists field notes, could someone please tell me what it is?

I think Martin Turner made it so If you fail it, you fail it. There's no going back. Which is a bit annoying, but makes it a lot more realistic. What happens if you fail it? Does it destroy the galaxy?

    • Kind of. It removes a whole lot of hyperspace links between systems and more black holes start appearing in the few systems that you can still get to. Funnily enough, it is actually more of a definite ending than the one after you succeed against the black hole :).

    • The only problem is that I am in Sol so I'm kinda screwed. I just kept landing and taking off from Earth but now Earth isn't there and I can't hyperspace out. Is there anyway I can fix this using either Res Edit or some in game solution?
