    • Upcoming Plug-in


      I'm currently working on a plug that is kind of like the opposite of ROTV. It adds a bunch of Voinian stomping missions to the UE string. It is about 60% done right now, but I think it's going pretty well so far. I'm not sure when it will be released, maybe in about a month or so. It's called "Fall of the Voinian Empire" or FOTVE for short. Comments?

    • In all honesty, the plug isn't ready for beta testing yet, but when it is I'll let you all know. It has about 20+ missions in it right now, a few new ships, dudes, outfs, whatever I need to support the plot.

    • I know this is off subject but I have a question about plugins. Could you make a planet that when tribute was demanded of it it did not send out any ships. Instead, I would act like a stationary ship with certain armorments and shield status. When you destroyed its shields the planet would surrender. I was thinking that if a planet sent out its entire defense fleet like sol's for instance that the war with the Voinians would already be over. The planets could still send out fighters and stuff but the amoumt would be limited. For instance a planet could have 5 UE fighter bays. That planet could send out 25 fighters but it might have 8 turrets and 2500 in shields and 4 turreted rocket launchers or hunters or other guided weapons. The planetary turrets would have to have a sightly enhanced range so that someone just could not sit out of their range an bombard the planet. I just thought this might be a new and fun way for planetary defenses. Would this be possible for a plugin?

      Good idea, but that's way beyond my capabilities. Ask on the developer's board...they'll have an answer.

      Unfortunately your rather good idea is impossible in EVO. When you're not landed on one, the planets are no more than simple landing pads.

      There is a possible way to implement this, however, but it is somewhat complicated. In laymans terms, you just have to make a really small ship that had all the weapons and range you wanted, but was unable to move* once it "launched" from the planet. Then make it part of the planets defense fleet. It would still be able to fight, but no-one would(if it worked) be able to see it, thus giving the effect of a "Planetary Defense".

      Aside from that or if that's too much work for ya, you could just wait til EV:3/N comes out. It has a similar feature regarding planets and their defense.

      * - Impeding movement is done by setting its speed and acceleration to 0

    • FOTVE is coming along well! So far the UE have conquered all the Voinian systems to the Galactic East, North, and South of Svass. A sweet new outfit has been added, and also... hey, I shouldn't be telling you this! No more inside information for you! Humph!

      YES, you can! It wouldent be to hard because all you would need to do is create a new ship called "Planet Defences". Make it's tech level the highest it can get, so you cant buy it. Then, set it's speed and to 0. Have it's sprites be 1 pixel of blackness. It's scanning picture would be something like a missle turret or the planet itself. Make all of the planet's defence dudes that ship. By the way, arm the ship so that it can shoot, and make it have the highest crew number so you cant capture it, and that's it! šŸ˜„ (Unfortuantly, You couldent make it have fighters)

    • Uh, why couldn't you make it have fighters? Sure you could make it have fighters, what are you talking about? I'd also make it look like the planet itself, so that your target box would be the right size and the planet wouldn't be covered by a small black shadow. All it's sprites would just be the same pic of the planet, so you couldn't see it turn. Equip it with a lot of weapons of the planet's race, make it unbuyable, an thar ya go. Heh, I think I'll do a little experiment plug right now.
