    • Spells Expander released!

Spells Expander has completed its testing period and has now been uploaded for general use. This plug-in adds 25 spells to the Conjurer class, plus several quests and items for the Conjurer. In addition, it adds a small side quest that both Rangers and Swordsmen can do, and a few new items have been added that both can find and utilize.

For more information on this plug-in, feel free to visit the (url="http://"http://stark.evula.net/plugins/spells_expander.htm")Spells Expander website(/url) located on (url="http://"http://stark.evula.net")stark.evula.net(/url).

And once AAC reviews it and makes it available for download, go grab yourself a copy!

Also, if you like the plug-in, feel free to thank the people who beta tested for me that made this plug-in what it is: Straytoaster, Dampeoples, Rubber Ducky, MickyBIs, and PhantomPenguin. I am truely thankful for these people's hard work and effort in bug and typo finding, as well as ideas for improving the plug-in.

      Enjoy the plug-in.

    • Prior to the release of Stark Bledfast's new plug-in, Spells Expander, I considered the Conjurer character to be my least favorite of the Trinity persona. He was weak, inept, uneducated in his arts, and ill-equipped. No more, my friends. The Conjurer has new tricks up his sleeves. He can now learn how to entangle, confuse, and evade his adversaries. He has further tamed the element of fire. He can experience, for a short time, the strength of a knight in shining armor. And most importantly, he has learned the lessons of maintaining good health.

This plug-in is in no sense a cheat. Like all good things, the conjurer has to work hard to achieve his goals. Some of the earlier spells can be purchased from mages he will meet in the serendipitous journey through the Kingdom of Garendall. For the more advanced spells, he has to reason, use his intuition, and develop strategy to find the tomes that contain them. Forethought becomes an important quality to develop because the nature of spells is that even the best of them do wear off in time.

If you are new to the game, prepare yourself for great fun. I you have gotten bored waiting for something to happen, here is the shot in the arm you needed. Enjoy it as I have!

    • Very nicely done. And thanks for giving me kudos on Bernard's Crystal. Really like the spells I have come across so far, especially Mark/Recall and Relocate (though it would be nice to know what your starting coordinates are so you don't relocate to where you already are.)

      Mr. Gallandro,

Thank you for the kind words, I'm glad you liked the plug-in. And I try to give people credit that is due to them, and since you gave me the idea for that I wanted to make sure that I gave you credit. I tried to e-mail you an advanced copy of the plug-in, but unfortunately the e-mail bounced.

As to relocate, it only sends you to where you want to go. If you want to learn your current coordinates you will need a different spell. I believe if you trek on over to Gwyden camp you will find someone that can sell you what you are looking for...

    • Just three quick questions,

      1. Will you be updating the PoG walkthrough & compendium for the new plug?

      2. I get the feeling that there is a quest based around disappearing nights (from the rumours at the Tower)? How do you start that thread?

      3. Feel like giving any hints concerning items for the swordsman/ranger?

      Cheers

      M.

      To answer your questions:

      Quote

      1) Will you be updating the PoG walkthrough & compendium for the new plug?

Yes, I will be doing that in the near future. I will update the walkthrough with info on this plug-in systematically; meaning that I will put basic information(what spells and items are available) on there first, then at a later date I will go through the quests, and then I will reveal everything there is. But I don't intend to do all that right away, as I would like to see people being able to solve/find things on their own for a little while at least.

      2) I get the feeling that there is a quest based around disappearing nights (from the rumours at the Tower)? How do you start that thread?

From Websters, the definition of a rumor: "An unconfirmed report or story."

Not all rumors are correct, and not all rumors pertain to this plug-in. Similar to the standard game of PoG, I have put in some teasers to things I already have plans to do for future plug-ins. I have also put in things that I have no plans to work with, but thought maybe they would spawn others to use the ideas. And some are just plain wrong rumors. Oh, and some are very accurate... 🙂

So don't drive yourself too insane looking for this that and the other thing based soley on a rumor. Actually, that's good advice for life too... 😄

      3) Feel like giving any hints concerning items for the swordsman/ranger?

For the swordsman you should go to your guild. There is a short quest that begins within, and I believe the guy who gives you the details/sends you on the quest will also tell you the various rewards you can choose from. Once you complete the quest you might want to save your game before speaking with him to claim your reward, just in case you want to choose different things and check them out before making your final choice.

Ranger's do not have any special quests and thus do not have any guild-specific items within this plug-in. However there are some new items that they can use, along with the other classes.

Unfortunately, you are going to have to win them by fire. There is a new breed of sea giant that hangs out around gidolan keep. They look the same(same graphic) and are not really all that much more difficult to fight, but they do have a few surprises to them, hehe. They drop some nice equipment and gold, and they can drop the new equipment that I have put into the game.

Thanks for the questions. If you have more feel free to post them.

    • The PoG Walkthrough and Compendium has been updated with the 1st wave of information. As I said earlier, I plan on putting information into the compendium slowly, so as to aid people while still keeping some things relatively secret.

This installation includes a list of all spell names and their respective levels. It also lists the names of all items. It does not give a description of what the various items or spells do, however. This shall come later.

You can view the new information directly (url="http://"http://stark.evula.net/pogwalkthrough.htm#spellsexpanderplug")here(/url).

    • I don't understand how to get started... I've met a Mage in Fantrima who'll sell me a few tomes, and I've bought them all and Im a high-enough level to use them all, and I've also gone to the Mages' Tower and bought all the tomes there and I can use all them, but I don't know where to start the quests for the rest of the plug. Please help :frown: 😕

      Ms. Proxima Presly,

The plug-in was designed for people starting out, as the new character will be visiting the whole world in their adventures. Combine that with following some of the rumors from the tower, and the plug-in should lay out nicely.

The problem comes in with higher-levelled characters, like yours I presume, that have already solved the majority of the standard PoG game. So your character will not be walking around to all the areas of PoG just for giggles, so I can understand the frustration.

The quests are all laid out, with their starting points, in the mage's tower under the guise of rumors. The first quest you will be looking for starts in Dernath. Head there and look for a guy wandering around in distress.

After you finish that, albeit short, quest, you will want to head back to the tower and take a listen to some of the rumors. Perhaps I'll post the starting locations to the 3 quests in the plug-in to the PoG walkthrough. I'll consider it.

      Good luck.
