3: semi-newbies - poeple that have been here for more than 1 to 2 months
4: newbies - poeple who have been here for less than a month
5: spammers - poeple that put spam on the EV, EVO, or Developers Corner boards
6: board newbies - poeple that have been with EV for a while, but not with the boards
newbie has, unfortuneatly, become acosiated with anoying, stuck-up, bad-temperd, spamer, etc., even though most of them aren't, they just seem that way because, YOU'RE ACTING THE SAME WAY, I'm beginning to lose my repsect for some vets because of their constant newbie bashing... everybody on this board needs to be nicer, i use to think that poeple on Macs were nicer than poeple on PCs... but I'm beginning to think I was wrong wrong....
Actually Veterans/oldies go back to before EVO was released, they know the game in and out.
Regulars, probably people who came with the EVO crowd, and stayed through the new webboard, and even some people who came after the switch. Even some people who came a week or too ago, its all about the attitude.
Newbies, everyones a newbie once, and somepeople continue to act like newbies. Some of you guys who posted above are saying you never were called a newbie, well thats probably because you never acted like one, you didn't ask dumb questions, basically you used your common sense and skipped the newbie stage. Good for you.
Chamrin
A few things:
1. I like how people associate oldies with a certain month or whatever.
For me, personally, I view "oldies" as everyone I saw post on the ev boards when I was a newbie. Hell, I don't remember half the people.
However, there are also oldies that I consider "old" even though they've been here less than a year. I use the same term but with two meanings really.
2. I love it how people keep saying "well, i've been playing ev since '93, but I just came to the board, i'm not a newbie!!"
Guys, it doesn't matter. Whenever we use newbie/oldie, its almost always in the relation to the board.
Seriously, everyone can judge who you are by how you act, so act decently...at the very least.

Am I a newbie? I've been around for 8 months, I've made about 80+ posts with Bad Temper, 150+ with Gavin, 2 with Gael, 100+ with Gav, 5+ with UK Warrior, plus what I have now in posts. As Bad Temper I was a spammer and a nasty little guy. Since then I've matured, if a lttle argumentive. When I threatened to leave, quite a few people begged me to come back, and that I would be missed.
So, once again, am I a newbie?

Check out the site! Exellent webboard! Come on in!
I'd like fish 'n' chips, with extra batter and a lump of lard on the side. Also, a triple extra-large chocolate ice-cream with a flake in each scoop, a large cheese burger, with another compliment of fries, and whatever that person over there is eating, and some coke. Oh, and make that Diet Coke, as I'm on a diet.
I came, I saw, I left home 'cos my dinner was cold.

Aren't you forgetting Gorky-Gav ;)? btw, Why haven't you been there for a while?
Be nice to newbies. Even if they are just annoying like heck, you don't want to scare people off just 'cause they don't act like you want them too. I hate newbie-bashers. Just 'cause some are clueless, doesn't meen that they should be scared off. Now spammers are a different story. Depends on what spammer it is. Secret Chimp is a border liner. Others are either good (ones who make bars and TaS strands) and bad (ones who bash people and leave without a fair fight). Bad ones should leave at least until they mature. They should also get a second chance too.
Words of wisdom:
Don't be quick to judge.
Don't bash newbies so they leave.
Don't bash people you don't like.
Don't leave people out.
In general, be nice :).

Hey Xavier! How come your posts are always French/English? btw, My middle name is Xavier. It's a cool name :).

Jive, I post in french and in english for two reasons. 1, I'm french, and I like to write in french, even more because I live in Spain, so I'm quite isolated from my own language, and even more since my girlfriend went back to France for work. You can't know how good it is, when your in a country where people don't speak your language, to be able to use it, even if you know 2/3 of the people don't understand it.
2, There are people (This time I got it, Jude ;)) on the board who seem to like reading french, like Jude (see her post in the Banter&Brawl;).
How did you end up with Xavier as a second name ? Do you have spanish or french-speaking family ? Because, in english, it's quite hard to say. When I lived in the United States, I was renamed by my friends X. Quite an anonymous name. But it's true I like it
------------------
Stupid, stupid voinian creatures.
Xavier was from St. Francais Xavier. However, I do think my grandpa has some French on his side. My last name (which I would rather not say) is very, very rare. I'm the only one in the US with it (besides the rest of my family). There is at least 1 or 2 people in France with the same name but pronounced differently. But since my grandpa died when I was young ( :frown:) we never got to ask him. We have no french speaking releatives (though I'm learning that in school) that I know of and we're not sure wheree my last name came from (since it is definetly not Czech (dad) or Swedish (mom) (we aren't full hardy Czech's or Swedes so I know nothing of these cultures though they are interesting. I consider myself americn)).
btw, French is a cool language. I admire all people who speak French. It's cool. Let's see... Ca va? Como tu t appelles? Ce bien. Et toi?

Heh. 1 post with Gorky Gavin.
I haven't gone to that bar in ages. Why? Am I involved in some of the stuff?
I agree totaly with your rant about being nice. I'm only not nice to the people who are not nice to me.
Don't get too hopeful; Kelly holds a mild interest in EVO, even less in this webboard. She only has one internet access: Which is a five pound-an-hour internet café, so she will only post a little, if ever (a bit like nash really).
Anyway, Jive, how's it going? Go to the Banter & Brawl and dig up my post about 3 automatic përs' in the great TC, Discovery. You're in for a little surprise!

Ce bien veut dire "this good", il manque sans doute le verbe : C'est bien, this is good.
It's not that extraordinary to speak french when you're french, which I am, so I'm not that cool ;).
To be precise, Xavier does come farther than from St François Xavier. It's the name of his birth place, Xavier, in Navarra (part of the spanish Basque country). It's usually a local name from southern France and northern Spain, so I'm surprised it's yours. As for your french, there is one small part I didn't understand, alse it's not bad, like Ça va. Else, you must say Comment tu t'appelles (Xavier, BTW). Ce bien means this good. I think you missed the verb : C'est bien, this is goof ? The end is good, keep on learning. And if you want to post in french too, go on, I'm posting in english

I learned that Ca va means how are you? If you say ca va back it means that you are fine. Don't blame me. My French teacher told me that. As for C'est bien I ment to say that I am good. I guess I'm still a little rusty :D. Uh...
Yo Gav! where is the Banter & Brawl board. I've heard a lot about it but I'm not sure where it is. I'm anxious to read your post :D.

You say "j'aime faire, pas j'aime fais". Else, it's good. You're french is not that rusty. How many years have you studied it ?
**
One 7th grade school year :D. I probably shouldn't be arguing with the person who speaks french but fais is a version of faire. When you... ohhhhhhhh. I got what I did wrong. What I meant to say was j'aime fais du football . Not je fais.
Not bad for a year of learning huh?

Fais is the first person of the singular of faire, but, after j'aime, you need an infinitive : j'aime faire. But, truly, else, you're french is quite good for someone who studied it only one year.
P.S. : I think, if you want to go on on french, it would be better to do it in Jude's post in the Banter&Brawl.;

Jive, you posted this to ask about all the newbies.
I don't remember you from the original board (back in the day when the override site was quite different and there was only ONE BOARD). I was a newbie then but I stopped posting when the site changed, as all the plug-ins I had been making (Civil War between board memebers) became obsolete.
I was a newbie to Micah L., Andrew Meilstrup, Soviet, Kind Arthur, Ant, and all those people. You're... the new generation of Micah L.
So we're all newbies, 'cept for them.
And you're dead anyway(see Freeport bar)
