Shields just add more armor
Blocking however (no mater what you have equiped) will reduce damage, unless I think its undead or uses mind attacks, So blocking will help for giants, not much though.

sometimes, but for the times they do even hit you, its less the normal, For big bad boys like the giants, A full block happens less.

if those cheat plugs were fake how did you make them look real

Plug data is stored in folders, when the game sees folders in the plug folder, it thinks it must be a plug, thus reads the folders name and puts it on the select screen, just make a folder and name it cheat, and it will pick it up. But it does nothing since no data is in the folder.
