How many of you use the forklift ? I found out about on the internet, and I started using it, but it seems like overkill. Plus I don't like cheating that much, so I only use it in desperation. But I was wondering if I'm the only one who uses it. Am I ?

No I use it to. I found out the cons a long time ago though. They kill any nearby escorts, don't work to well on Zidagar (unless you are right on top of them), and can turn an entire fleet of ships on you if you aren't careful. I only use it when needed as well. Or if I want to skip the first boring quarter of the game (by raising my combat rating) when I start a new pilot. It is overkill after a while. Gets real boring real quick.

Because I am an Iron Fisted ruler, yes I do use (and love) the forklift. It's really cool when you are swarmed with Voinian Cruisers and Frigates and all of the ships are gone in just a few shots.
Rule for Forklifts-
1 shot - most commercial vessels
2 shots - UE Destroyer, Zidara?
3 shots - Crescent Warship, Voinian Frigate
4 shots - UE Carrier, Igazra
5 shots - Voinian Cruiser, UE Cruiser
6 shots+ - Voinian Dreadnought (I didn't have the forklift when I beat the VD, so I'm just guessing).

The UE Carrier only takes two.
Noooo! Using the forklift is almost as bad as using a cheater plug (please don't tell me that you stop THAT low). You should be able to take out ships without using the Forklift.

I do take out my own ships with out forklifts. It's just when you have 2 points of armor left and you have to destroy 2 v. cruisers, what else are you gonna do?

Sit around until you have enough sheilds to start up again. OR, do what most people do, and don't do missions that you can't do yet. Wait until you have a good enough ship to take them out.

I usually can take on those ships but sometimes I make one or two mistakes and I'm down to 2 armor. Besides. I only use it dire need. I agree that it does get boring if you use it over and over again.
