    • The Best Weapon (and other EQ)

Is there any 1-handed better or comparable to the Dwarven Runic Sword?

      Or any equipment better than:
      Necklace of Stone
      Elven Full Plate
      Ring of Stone
      Belt of Stone
      Lilith Shield
      Boots of Lightning

Personally, I feel that the Dwarven Runic sword is better than the War Axe Misery. If you simply look at the stated facts on the two weapons, the axe seems better:

      axe
      20-50 +1 spd +5 dex

      sword
      20-45 +3 dex

However, the unstated fact is that the sword is ONE handed, while the axe uses TWO hands. With the sword, you can wear the Lilith shield and gain an extra +20 armor or the completed milla'kara with its resistances.

And, of course, vs slow enemies... the elven bow of destruction is absolutely the best - In the cave with the War Axe there are many relatively lowbie monsters with nice gold drops. I clear them out taking around 130 damage with the dwarven runic sword, and I can clear them out taking only about 30 damage using the bow because I can run and shoot.

Finally, I want to ask, where's the best place to get gold for potions?

      Opinions, all?

    • ring of the gods is realy good, but you need to kill a sea giant to get it.
and if you can kill sea giants, there the best sorce of gold and rings and elixirs.

    • I can kill sea giants, but it's very difficult to do so (I die with 1-2 hits and I always get hit unless my shield is up, meanwhile I only do about 30-50 dam and miss regularly). I definitely need much more strength/dexterity to do it without any problems. I've only bought potions for Luck and my luck is still only about 35, so you can see how far along I am. I read some old posts and I think Liliths might be the best choice for me right now, but I'm willing to take suggestions 🙂

    • Liliths and minotars are the next best thing for cash and goods.

    • Depends. Personally, I like the area at the northern territories tunnel. It is filled with rogue mages and zombies. The zombies drop a mild amount of gold. And the mages drop lots of cash, potions, and items. Also, you don't need to drink any potions to take them on, just use your tent every once in awhile. I have gotten many a dexterity potion this way.

    • I personally feel that the best combination of equipment is this:

      Necklace of Stone
      Belt of Stone
      Elven Full Plate
      Boots of Lightning
      Ring of Snake
      War Axe Misery

I feel that the extra 2 dexterity pts and the extra speed pt make the War Axe Misery better than the Dwarven Runic Sword (maybe it's just me).

One quick question though, what does the luck stat actually do?

Luck determines if an item is dropped, and if so, the quality of that item. All
item dropping NPC's have a range, I believe, of what they can drop. Ie, some might
range from grapes worth 1 gold, to a leather jacket worth 20 gold(I'm making up prices
here). If your luck is high, then the odds that when you kill that critter type that
you will get a more costly item is greater. Thus, the higher your luck, the easier it
is to get money(since you will get better equipment which can be sold). You also have
higher chances of getting a random potion to increase your stats.

As for me with weapons, I prefer the war axe of misery. I don't mind not using a shield,
although it bugs me that with the war axe I can still block as if I were using a
shield. I certainly hope that this is a bug, and will be fixed, even though it would
be a detriment to my play, as well as anyone who uses a 2-handed weapon. But come on,
as it sits now, there is simply no advantage to using a 1-handed weapon and a shield.
I've found no advantage to blocking with a shield, or blocking with my 2-handed war
axe of misery. Perhaps there is a slight disadvantage, but I haven't realized it yet.

So as long as it remains this way, I'll stick to my 2-hander.

I don't think that being able to block with a two handed weapon is a bug. The key word is block, not shield. I think that the character is just taking a defensive position. A higher AC does help, but it doesn't make that big of a difference.

    • I recently aquired the Ring of Gods (found by killing the Sea Giants) and made an amazing discovery. Even though the description says that it doesn't increase speed (it says +3 to all stats except speed), it does. That means that my charcter went from a speed of 11 to a speed of 14!
