    • Warning the Guards and Surviving Garendall

I'm quite far into the game (have the key, on my way to the Tome of Elixirs) but I've still got the Warn the Guards quest unfilled. I've been to Dernath, Berglud, the Bridge area, and the town you start in and talked to all of those guards (although the Berglum guard throws me out every time). Is there something I'm missing? Someplace I'm supposed to go? I'm assuming I don't need to go to Gidolan Keep and warn them that they're under attack...

Also, I must be missing something vital about travelling into Garendall, because I take about 20 Healing Potions with me and run out by the time I'm halfway through. My armor is around 144, my MHP is 140. Is there some item that I need to use, or are my levels just not high enough? The zombies and Dark Spirits really knock me out, though (sometimes up to 20-30 a hit!).

      Please help me!

Did you rescue the General from the Ghost Swamp Cave? He's the one that tells you to go to Dernath and Berglum.

If you have, you need to use the response, "I'm speaking for Decimus" when you tell the Guard commanders of the towns. That way they will believe your story.

As for Garendall, Why fight them? Just run by them until you find the items you are sent there for. Except when you go down into the cave after the Tome, you will have to fight of course. Just be patient, use your shield, after they hit you, hit them, wait, then hit again. Use your potions wisely, look at the hit points you take, when you reach a level of life below the maximum hit you get from an opponent, reup with a potion.

      Hope the above helps.

The enemies do "undead" damage so you'll need to buy or find yourself some protection against undead. Hint: the holy cloak is sold in Berglum and gives you a little undead protection. The best protection against undead however is the divine lamp, found in a crypt of the ghost swamp.

Hmm....I've definitely saved Decimus. I also killed the cyclops long ago. However, I am getting thrown out by the berglum guard, and the guard at the southwest of Dernath won't help me either. I don't see the option "I'm speaking for Decimus".

Also noticed a bug: the guard near the cyclops area congratulates me for slaying them, and says he'll send a guard back to town to tell everybody of my success. Then then next thing he says is the original warning about the cyclops, as if they were never killed. The town knows I killed them, though. I wonder if that is relevant to my problem.

Anyhow.....I hope somebody can help me figure out how to warn the guards.

    • Mmmmh...don't know if you did it before, but you must travel back to the square, where you can find Sepremis.
In the same square is now Decimus, build up his tent (near the little mountains).
You must speak with him and he will give you the same order as Sepremis before (Warn the guards), then the dialog will appear.

    • Hi guys,
I'm having pretty much the same problem. I rescued the general from the swamp, but I don't get the option that I'm speaking for Decimus.
I'm also getting another bug (I think) where Decimus tells me that before he can train me more I must warn all the guards and help build up the barricades. I have already finished the quest where I send lumberjacks to help build up the barricades however. Do I need to build up more barricades somewhere else?
      Thanx, Jonck

    • Jeez! There have to be at least twenty people with your same problem... just look on other threads next time.
To get the Berglum guard's rear in gear, you have to speak to Septemris (the guy who trains you) and Decimus (the general... he's one of the guys by the tents, north of Septemris).
Also, to build up the barricades, you have to not only complete the Lumberjack Quest, but you have to warn the guards in Berglum and Dernath. Once you do, talk to Septemris and he'll give you a quest; talk to Decimus and he'll give you the tent and some Fish Rations.

    • Whoops, sorry, I checked quite a few other threads that I thought had titles which might have something to do with this problem, but I didn't find anything. But thanks for the help anyway 🙂

The guard at Berglum may be trowing you out because you had said "trobles", the 2nd option when you 1ist meet him; I saved and tryied it myself. It does't mater if your working for the General our not.
In Darath you need to check that you talking to the caption off the garrion thare, and not the gaurd jist out side the city.(and killed off all the cylops)

The best ways to deal with this is to buy/get some "potion of dex. when you get to about dex of 23 most mosters can't hit you. then the only creatures that can get more damage on you before dying then 10 is the cylops(20 dam), the freah loking undead(20-40 dam) and the sea giant(140-180/hit) when dex is higher, it works on undead & mindhuters and cycops, too.
