I just love the UES Cruiser! Lots of room, lots of crew, etc. Sell off those primitive launchers, get the Dospect Armor Kit from Parreen Station, needles, SADS, and pursuits. If you have enough room, splurge for some of those manueverability upgrades.
I conquered about 6 Vonian planets in a day with this and some CW escorts.

I have no idea why the Iggies have blaze turets. For some reason in my version (dont know if its a plugin messup or what) the Iggy has 5 each of blaze and phase, AND dispy rockets and SAEs.
I suppose it could be from my version of EVO being 1.0.0, since i dont have enough patience to DL 1.0.1. Especialy since 1.0.2 is (hopefully) almost done. 
The best ship is, without a doubt, an Igazra with enhanced neutron turrets (it may not be quite legal, but it's darn fun) and space mines.
The igazra is maneuverable, strong as all heck, and although a Voinian Cruiser has more armor, it's just too darn slow to be any good at anything.
The enhanced neutron turrets are so good because they're twice as good against shields and 10x more damage against armor compared to phase turrets, while having almost as much range, so you can still monty python decently. And although you do have to cheat a little to get them, they're well worth it.
And of course, space mines are awesome because they're so powerful and voinians are so stupid that they will just run straight into the mines over and over again and blow themselves up pretty quickly. also, if you get the dominator plugin, and lay a couple of mines right around the planet and then demand tribute, the entire defense fleet, regardless of what kind of ship, will be blown up immediately.
Ship: enhanced Arada w/ Azdgari upgrade and shield caps+shield booster.
Weapon: Plasma siphon, phase, hunters

Nice outfit plan. But try this one.
Join Zidagar. Just before they shrink your weapons, get as many SAD's, puirsuts, and dispys possible on the UE Cruiser. Then get you're outfits shrunk. Buy a mix of phase and neutrons (or blaze) then fill up the rest with phase beams.

Favorite ship: (A) fighter or Zidra. I can't decide between the two. I don't like to be slowed down by sloppy capital ships. I like the Zidra because of the phased beams. They stink unless you change the game to make them straight which I did. I like the (A) fighter because it is very fast with very good handling.
Favorite Weapon: Phased beam. I like the phased beab because there is no curavature of the beam; every time you fire it it goes straght. Because of this I can make very fast passes at capitol ships before their turrets can catch up with me.

The thing that kept me from buying capital ships in EVO was that the ships looked so ugly, so I stayed with my turncoat for the whole game... I just care about looks so much...
Anyway, the igadzra looks hideous, and is basicly a huge ****. I think of it as what come say about people who drive muscle cars... making up for... lacks. I shouldn't be taking physcology as a major, it is messing with me, that and the freudrian EV thing... But All the big ships just look ugly... the ue ships look like they came from a 50's buck rogers movie with thjose ships that look like nerf darts...
That just my 2 cents, the graphics are why I stay with EV and plug-ins instead of EVO no plug. (plugins are the only reason I play EV)

I like the UE Cruiser but it is too slow. I use a UE Carrier because it already has the fighter bay. With the Override Edge cheater plug, I can load the carrier up with 999 of every weapon. I chuckle when I destroy entire Voinian fleets while my friends, the UE fleets are having trouble with only one (V) Cruiser. The best weapon is the forklift. Five forklifts destroy a (V) Cruiser, three for the frigate. Space mines are very cool, but prohibitively dangerous (even with a 2000 shield rating!).
The BEST ship's in the game are the Enhanced Arada and the Voinian Dreadnaught. Can't buy either you say? You CHEATER, you say. Nope just accept the missions they are in and go to the system with them. Abort the mission and disable and capture. Of course it takes a LONG time to capture the Voinian Dreadnaught but once you do you can reak havok in the Cresent. The Enhanced arada outfited with a Plasma Siphon(triple agent plug to do both all the missions) 4 swivel phase cannons, all engine upgrades, the shield generators(both) and the Zidagar ECM. Nothing even comes close to this ship, it is virtually invulnerable.

Why except the dreadnought? My Igazra without armor or shield upgrades can easily kill a dreadnought. Simply buy 8 Defense systems and all the pods you can fit. That'll do it without even getting shields below 75%.
