Newbies CAUSE the intial problem, but alot of idiots only add to it by flaming back. So, one might conclude that had the newbies not flamed, they wouldn't have flamed back = no trouble

But for once, maybe people should look around, and see what they can do besides pointing the finger, and what they can do to help. Because if you are not apart of the solution, then you are apart of the problem.
Working on several productive projects at the moment....

The solution is ignoring spam, and letting the admins deal with it. I agree this spam isn't good and there is too much of it, but lets look at who's posting it, everyone hates CHMD, but in reality he has only started 4 threads in the first 4 pages, 3 of which people have answered the question completely in only 1 or 2 responses. The fourth, caused no harm, was only a comparison of two ships, no one was insulted in it, no one even complained about it.
He posted THIRTY times the first day. He declared that Andrew M had no life, he was more intelligent than any of us and other mindless rants. He basically came out an said, "I'm an ******* ". How do you EXPECT people to act towards people who insult them and show up to cause trouble?

Instead, people still go around saying, "the board is in ruins", in fact the board is better now than it was for most of the life of the old disc board, and I've been here long enough to know.
Bugs, no HTML, constant ****-throwing and newbies posting total nonsense... much better.
I don't think seniority has any effect on one being intouch with actual reality...

Most people here aren't helping the solution by ignoring spam posts, instead they add to the problem by posting more spam under new threads. They insult people that have offended the EV/O community or them before, and then create a flame war. The point is, we need to forgive people and give them a chance. Remember Rebel? Recently he came for a visit and was immediately banned from #ev, they never gave him a chance to talk. I talked with him for a while after, and he has changed, he's not trying to create problems for others, but others are creating problems for him. When people do that, the person affected tends to do what the crowd expects him to do, and fight back and create more disruptions.
I certainly believe in giving chances, but rebel WAS the one who would not apoligize at the beginning. But, why should we allow people to paste "penis" 50 times in a row just because they might be able to change? I have tolerance, but people who are purposely causing trouble should be removed.

So get rid of your grudges, ignore spam, thats the best way to fix the problems here, the responsibility lies with everyone, including you.
I do my best....
