In Mascot editor, I made a level, but every single horizontal surface is fall-throughable! HELP!!
------------------
I haven't done this in a while, so I'm going to have to be vague, but in one of the menus, choose "Edit FG tile values" or something like that. The numbers that you ned to type in should be listed. You can also open an existing world and look at wht whoever wrote it did. Hope that helps.

First, it's in 7th item down in the "Tiles" menu, "Define FG Tiles..."
For what values you need, you should check Ben's levels. I'd tell you them, but I don't trust my memory.
Second, this topic belongs in the (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/cgi-bin/ubb/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&forum;=Ferazel+Hacking&number;=54")Ferazel Hacking(/url) board. It may be dead, but people still check it. (Or at least I do...)
Third, I don't want to come off as a jerk, but it's generally annoying to post a topic name in all caps.
Fourth, welcome to the board. Try and stick around.
(Fifth, try and liven up the add-ons page with it when it's done, instead of waiting to complete a world.)

welcome to the boards, and do please stay,we do need the people.
(I'm back(like anyone noticed i was gone)and i think its for good now)

The values, if the tileset isn't changed or a "new" tileset, should start at 0 and get to the mid-forties by the end of the "basic" tiles. Special tiles, like spikes and ice, have special values. You wouldn't happen to be using MSIP, would you? MSIP has a lot of neat features where you won't have to have a reference handy; the values and things (on many screens!) are right there.
(edit)Heh, I was thinking about the topic name and I had the idea of a levelset where there are no walls; merely wind tiles. Anyone can steal that idea. I have some of my own for the levelset I'll be working on after XR. (!!)(/edit)

Yeah, but it was one of the funniest topic names I've ever seen.

Nope! It's still being worked on, although slowly. We have only to put the storyline(s) in and then it'll be finished! Woo!

I have no idea what is wrong. E-mail me (ferazel@programmer.net) the level file (extract the level in ResEdit if you don't want me to see the rest of the world) after compressing it with at least .sit, but .tar.gz is recommended.

Um, I thought there used to be a topic that covered this in the (url="http://"http://m4d.ferazel.net/")MASCOT 4 Dummies(/url) guide, but I can't seem to find it anymore. I'll try to bring it back.
Use M4D. It's your friend.
(EDIT)Hmm, I can't find it... On the other hand, I fixed a few M4D bugs. Plus I found (url="http://"http://m4d.ferazel.net/index.php?cat=Keyboard Shortcuts&subcat;=Function Keys")this page about function keys(/url), which is awesome! I think I knew it was possible to move the level around, but I had completely forgotten. :)(/EDIT)

Yeah, absolutely awesome, I wish there were more secret keys that could destroy a level. I accidentally played around with them, and pretty much ruined a level that was almost done, and a beautiful level at that. I'll never touch those @#$!% keys again. They still scare me.
Also, PCheese, I'd like to thank you for putting together such a brilliant tool as the M4D. It is a wonderful resource and clearly one which you put some substantial effort into. I have my old ratty Mascot Read Me full of my scratchy handwritten notes, but whenever that fails me (a lot) I head strait for M4D.

Hehe, well I'm fortunate enough not to have figured those keys out on my own. However, there were times where I realized I had miscalculated and wished I could move my level over (seriously), so I redid the whole thing by taking a screenshot of the mini map, editing it, and pasting it into a new level, then laboriously going over everything again...

Thanks! But if you look on the (url="http://"http://m4d.ferazel.net/copyright.php")Acknowledgements(/url) page, you'll see that a lot of other people helped too, and it wouldn't have been possible without them. And then there's all the people that keep helping out by editing it from day to day, which is awesome.
By the way, I'm working on a new version that should be greatly improved. I'm going to try to make it downloadable and searchable and all these goodies. But that's still a while off. I'm feeling a Ferazel's Wand revival coming up.

Yeah, for the first time in ages things are looking up for ol' Ferazel. I'm putting Extemporaneous on Hiatus and working on a new level set. A more planned out story with only 6 levels, that will push Ferazel to its limits. More thinking and traps, and trickier stuff then just monsters. I want to try to be as creative as spamguy was in stretching Ferazel, and the players brains in Basic Nothingness.

You are all awesome for figuring out Mascot on your own and supporting each other. Truly, it brings a tear to my eye. (Only half joking)

You are awesome for coming out of nowhere and creating a whole new game/engine/whatever you're doing. It brings smiles back to our faces.
