My mind is still reeling at the thought of changes, and I'm sure there are loads of little things that we all want but here is my (current) wish list:

Another Boss would be nice, though I guess that would be a major change.
      Ability to kill the wraiths.
Activation of unused spells (particularly energy ball)
Activation of some of the extras in Mascot that we can't use such as enemies - Forest Sprite, 2 water urchins, leech, rathole - and scenery - rock piles 2 & 3, the cauldron and the unusable ropes, and passages, although I've found that those being invisible can be useful at times.
The ability to change the dimensions of a level after you've started to make it would be handy, as would paste pict as BG tilemap be if it worked, and maybe a fill background command.

Whilst I appreciate that Carbonisation would constitute a major change (and it isn't a major priority of mine at the moment as I have so many classic apps.) I think it would also be a major bonus, because sooner of later everyone will be using OS X, and after a while Apple will just not include classic ability with the operating system. After that anyone wanting to play Ferazel's Wand will have to have two computers.

      Sorry double post!

Strange actually because I got the message "there is already someone on the board with this name" - and was directed to try again. Which I did - so I didn't notice it until just now. (9 am GMT 14/3/02)

I emailed him about it, and that is not what he told me. He said it was a very good possibility, but it would never be released through ambrosia due to their releationship. He has to see what would be involved in carbonizing it, and how much work there would be.

Ok. So when he said, "other than carbonization" he didn't really mean that. 🙂 That's good, actually!

    • What I'd really, really want? Carbonization is no problemo for me, my 687 megahertz iMac running native Classic is just fine for FW. Loading in world data via the game is what I really want. I mean, have you downloaded the most recent version of Harry? It was the same story with Harry. People asked for a level editor, they got it, unsupported. But they got something we didn't get....they got the ability to load Harry worlds from in-game. If Ben can do it in his other killer game, he can definatly do it in FW.

    • Yes, but whether your e-mail client can handle it is not her problem. These webboards are not the place to hold private meetings in secret code. I think Zelda acted fairly in deleting your topic.

    • About activating unused sprites, the actual sprites exist (all the frames) in the Ferazel's Wand Sprites file, so the only update would probably be including them within the code. I don't think it would be that hard

You know what? I communicated with you privately over this matter and you said all was fine. Then you post this. I'm sorry you don't agree with me, but the boards here are NOT the place for private messages that no one else is able to read. I'm sorry if you don't agree, but that's the way I'm calling it. I'm rather disappointed you'd bring this up on the boards like this when I tried very hard to resolve this with you privately.

This is also taking away from the topic. So...if you still have a problem, hash it out with me off the boards. It's not fair to draw attention away from this topic.

My feeling is...no secret messages on the boards. That's just silly. And it's a misuse of the boards. If you have to say something that only certain people can read, you can mail them. I don't buy your explanation that "Not all of OBW users read their mail."

I'm feeling rather grumpy over this, and if this doesn't go anywhere, I'm going to delete all posts that refer to this. Ben is taking time out of his schedule to do an update for us and we don't need to fill the space with this silly quibbling.

Near the bottom of the "Objects" menu in Mascot you have a number of HPassages in differing lengths (1-10 tile) only the entrances/exits of 1-6 are actually visible in the game. The others just show as a blank wall, although in all other respects they act as passages (ie you can't see Ferazel move through them). This can have its uses if you want an invisible or secret passage.
Come to think of it I'd like at least one of them left as it is.

    • What problem does Ambrosia have with releasing a carbonized update of Ferazels wand? It would seem illogical for them to have a problem with carbonizing it. It would increase the number of people buying and using it. Even is Ben can't do the update couldn't they commit some of their other personell to it after Nova is released?

I'll field this one. Ben and Andrew had a falling out and they are no longer on friendly terms. In an effort of maturity Andrew banned Ben Spees the creator of Ferazel's Wand from these boards, silly ain't it? So this potential update is coming strait from Ben with no connection to Ambrosia. I love Ambrosia, but there seems to be some selfishness in this instance on Andrew's part, from my (barely informed) perspective he seems to be putting his pride above the game. So why doesn't Ambrosia want it Carbonized? Where's Ragnarok? Is there really a Loch Ness Monster? 😕

Actually, that isn't ture at all. When Ben left Ambrosia to work for a PC-only company, he was still working on Ragnarok. As spamguy said, Ambrosia has two choices. 1: Trash it (nods head) or 2: Find a new creator to finish it. (frowns) :frown:

    • The top few things I would like are these: (Top of list = most wanted.)

      Ferazel:
      The Fire/Ziridium Seed bug.
      'Open World' from startup screen.
      The other spells activated.
      Carbonisation.
      Horizontal Rock Barrier.

      MASCOT:
      More information released.
      A sprite editor/enabler.
      Carbonisation.
      Horizontal Rock Barrier.

    • Horizontal rock barrier's a good one! I had wished for something of the sort when I first got MASCOT, a little like a switch. I wanted something that would switch when a mine cart hit a button, sending it down the first time then up the second. I imagined it like those half-bridges that would move.

Anyway, if that's possible, it would make an addition with a lot of potential.

(edit)Although I have found a way to make a horizontal rock barrier for my levels, but I haven't actually tested it. It's quite interesting...(/edit)
