I need help with the Sand level where you have to make it thru in 5 min. I have probably restarted that level a 100 times.

Not that I'm an expert of any sort, but the things which I found useful in that board were twofold:

1. make sure you have the tree spell (it makes life easier when you miss a cannon)
2. don't go out of your way for goodies... head for the exits!

It's an annoying board, but it is doable. Keep on truckin!
