    • FerazEdit . . . don't get greedy!

      Hi Everyone!

I decided for some fun that I would use FerazEdit to give myself the max of everything (well, almost everything) and see if it didn't help me with some of the levels that I didn't quite perfect. I have run into some slight inconveniences that I thought I'd share.

      1. Since I have so many multi-crystals, I cannot use the tree trunk spell correctly. I cannot build up, it just puts in a whole bunch of trunk bases in the general direction of where I'm shooting.

      2. When I have the fireball spell selected, it will often shoot either the ice crystal spell or the statue spell instead.

This is not a complaint or a bash on FerazEdit -- I think it's great! And like my husband says, if I'm gonna cheat I need to suffer the consequences. This is just a warning to those of you who may be using it without finishing the game, don't get greedy!

By the way, has anybody else experienced this?

I've also experienced multi-crystal problems with Ferazedit. First of all, when I shoot any spell, it seems to come from a lot of directions, and not really hit where I want it to. Second, I can't get some of the spells to work. Like Ice Crystals, Ice Shards, Density Ball and Sandstorm. Speaking of Ice Crystals, how come you can't get it in 1.0.3?

You can't get it in 1.0.3 because they didn't intend to incorporate it into the final version of the game. And it's nice to know that I'm not the only one out there who has had these problems with FerazEdit. I guess it's just one of those "too much of a good thing" backfires. Oh well . . . it's still a great tool! 😄

It's not FerazEdit that's causing the problems. It's the game itself (not that I'm saying it's a problem or anything). The more multi-crystals you get, the more you shoot, however, only up to 4 fireballs (or boomerang, V-Blade, etc) will show up. Problem is, once you get over 4 multi-crystals, things start going awry. For me (I have 14 multi-crystals in a game I sometimes tinker with using the patched version of Ferazel) when I shoot, the fireballs come out from about Ferazel's waist, and don't hit the ground until they're below it (about the same distance below the ground as the fireball is below the wand when it comes out). And the Tree Trunk problem happens a lot too, but if you stand still and shoot, sometimes it will build the tree properly.

The reason I say it's not that much of a problem, is the chances of you getting more than 4 multi-crystals and keeping them for any decent amount of time, is pretty slim (in general...of course you could leave them all behind when you go through the levels, and go back and grab them all on the way to Xichra)

That's because they were never coded into the game (or they were and just commented out...something to that effect probably) There are no sprites for them, and no sounds, therefore, they're not there 🙂

    • It's good to know that FerazEdit is appreciated and well-used. I got into writing game editors with Myth:TFL, and have been hooked ever since 🙂

It is worth noting that all of the problems described are not really bugs in the editor, but simply limitations in the game. If you have too many multicrystals, for instance, you quickly exceed the number of sprites allowed on the screen, which leads to the desribed problems.

If anyone does find a real bug in the editor though, I'll gladly fix it. FerazEdit is of course only of use to those who play the game, but it's nice to be able to go back through after you've won and kick some butt!

I just want it known that I'm not implying bugs in FerazEdit or the game itself. I'm just trying to say 'don't get greedy', because there are limitations. I'm no expert on creating games or game editors, I'm just seeing that when I gave myself too many multi-crystals, I jinxed myself by not being able to use some of my spells correctly. 🙂

Are you double clicking on the app itself or on the Stuffit file? (I honestly can't remember if it was just stuffed, or put in an installer). If it's stuffed, that probably means you don't have Stuffit Expander. (url="http://"http://www.aladdinsys.com/")www.aladdinsys.com/(/url)

    • Hehe, well umm Nif, I find out too many multi crystals just make the graphic below you. Here's a tip: make an imaginary line forward from Ferazel, and that's where it will hit. But I don't get the tree trunk problem, I can pile up fine. I used to cheat without FerazEdit, I just used Resorcerer. Happy Cheating!

    • But I do have stuffit expander!!! When the download is complete I have only one item to click on, it looks like a white piece of paper with the corner folded. I'M CONFUSED!!!

    • Thats the Icon your machine gives to document it doesn't recognize, ie you don't have an application that can read it.

It may be an issue of what version of Stuffit Expander you have. For example, assuming you don't have the latest version, I think a .sit file created with a later version of Stuffit can't be opened with an earlier version. I've had problems like that before when trying to unstuff files.

    • All of my applications (including FerazEdit) are compressed using Stuffit 5. You need Stuffit Expander 5 to extract it. It's a free download from Aladdin.
