    • Heh. I pre-approved his post... It's mostly a joke as far as i am concerned(bob's post).

Things may continue, but uh... I'm sure not many people will put much spirit into things...

What happened while I was gone. Man I leave for one day and the whole thing falls apart. It was going so good too. Well, we will need to elect new mods if we want this to stay alive or was U.E. Admiral joking? I can't tell.

    • Swithich, i am really resigning from mod. And dont blame Bob, it was really a joke. He's a reasonable person.

I am all for letting the story live, i am just exhausted with all the business of cleaning out the garage and preparing for a move. We dont have a place yet, but since the land lord is taking the garage apart, we need to get our **** together(wont have a place to store it for a while).

    • ARGH! This was so much fun! Who wants to be a new mod? We still got Jimbob, there is no reason for this story to die so young! DON'T LET IT DIE!

    • I'm all for working for continuation.

If I may, I'd like to recommend a temporary pause with no research, fleet changes or additional story posts. That way we can get reorganized and find out how we should continue. Besides that it will give us a chance to find out who stays and who goes.

      Anyone agree?

Let's hope someone better than me at this steps up to the plate. My webstory resumé is rather limited. But I'll do it until then.

(Edit) Near constant editing makes the rest of this post come off as rambling(/Edit)

Cheezy, it's not dead. Paranoid is right about the need to pause and reorganize. That's exactly what this thread is for, isn't it?

Jimbob, hold out some hope for this story before moving on to the next. By all accounts voiced, this story was going well. Let's hear from some of the other players before you start loading uranium into your ships.

Besides, Generak Rak said he was working on something, and asked for some time; not that it was ready to go.

We haven't heard from spl_cadet or The Cheat.

nfreader's last post says he isn't coming back.
Jimbob just ordered his fleet to commit suicide with nukes in Earth orbit. If enough people decide to continue, this will be revoked.

Consul Bob... What do I say about him? I revoked his last post for 1) Five separate instances of Übertechnology. 2) Going over budget (Even at 1 cr a ship, he doesn't have enough for all the ships he mentioned. Cruisers, War Frigates and ammunition were not factored into the prices.) 3) One post battles. 4) Bypassing border systems (Blowing up Clotho to hit at Satori.) He hasn't said anything since then that I know about.

Cheezy_Cracker and Paranoid want to continue.
Swithich's last post implies that he want's it to continue, and calls for a vote for a replacement mod.

Omran Khan and Trugati both showed up only infrequently.

Dark Jet, Admiral Callisto and U.E._General never showed up to begin with.

That leaves us with, right now:
Consul Bob the only Confederate Player, unless he decides to leave
spl_cadet the sole effective Rebellion Player, unless he decides to leave
The Cheat on Manos, unless he decides to leave
      Paranoid's Pirates
      Cheezy_Cracker's Mercenaries
      Swithich on New Cydonia

If spl_cadet and Consul Bob opt to drop this story, it'll be fatal. If only one does... We'll see.

Well, I did mean twelve days. But, it doesn't really matter, since this webstory reached the inflection point of death some time ago.

    • Infrequently? I wasn't posting at all until a few days ago(being deprived of Internet access, which I now have again.) I check these threads frequently now, but when I came back my fleet had already been destroyed. At this point, I'm awaiting orders...

      ------------------
Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky, seven for the dwarf-lords in their halls of stone, nine for Mortal Men doomed to die, One Ring for the Dark Lord on his dark throne in the land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
      J.R.R. Tolkien

    • In my opinion, this story is pretty much dead.

I'm willing to continue, if for some reason everyone decides to keep going, but it just isn't set up to do so. In these modern times, you just can't do things the old way.

Myself, U.E. Admiral, and Jimbob learned that through experience.

As for my ending post, it fit all of the rules that existed at the time. I doubt that Jimbob is devoted enough to this webstory to moderate it enough to keep it alive, seeing as U.E. has resigned.

I'll keep on playing, if it somehow lives, but I doubt it will.

      Consul Bob

P.S.: Swithich, I did not kill the webstory. The webstory killed itself. With a sword.

    • Well, if you ask me, I think it's all Cadet's fault.

Him with all his unconventional and complicated technology at incredibly fast rates of research are what pushed Admiral over the edge. That and his lack of willingness to comply with the moderator's reasonable requests.
      I'll bet anything on that.

Cadet was within' the boundries of the letters of the rules, but not the concept of them. The way i see it, every player got one fleet. Once his were killed, he just started new fleets wherever he damn well pleased. The rule about defeated fleets needing to be started from the capital was quite clear to me, but no, cadet had to go and pull out his book of technicalities.

Anything to win... or perhaps... Did he get bored with the story and decide to cheat to win faster? Maybe he forsaw Admiral getting overwhelmed and wanted to push him off that cliff to kill the story?
You see it now, he claims the story is dead. He doesnt even want to try to save it.
