    • Nova was cool but it lacked something, I'm not sure what though. Override was cool, it had so much to do. But, Classic EV was awesome. It was fun just trying to fight your way through the ranks. I play all three games from time to time. Classic EV also had the most plug-ins, which was good incentive. I also liked how the fighting went. You could fight with a fast light ship and fast light weapons or with a slow heavy ship with slow heavy weapons and still take on any ship. You just needed more skill with the the fast ships which ment you were actually skilled.

    • What "other versions" of EV? When did that happen? (Nobody ever tells me anything. Geez!)

Do you mean the sequels to the original, or plug-ins? I'm not sure what you mean by "other versions".

Ah.... memories. I remember when EV was in 1.0.3, and I was beating pirates on a 33 mhz 64080 whose harddrive was so small we had to use an external SCSI drive to store EV on.

    • I like EV and the Quagmire Triligoy because I found bugs that allowed me to get almost 2bil in credits in one hour 😄 I also have a confederate cruser with 999 torps 999 missles 999 rockets a hawk bay and 6 Kestrals as escorts and I have the new beam weapon.
One glitch is that if you have an activated devastator in QT, then quit the game, remove the QT plug, then buy a new ship after you load up again without the plug your ship now has aprox. 20,000 tons of space.
The other in QT is that if you buy dart missile launchers you then get an = amount of ground scouts. So I bought 10 dart launchers then left the outfitters, then reentered and sold all the cheated ground scouts for 33,000+ each. Easy Money 😄

Death to the rebels; death to the pirates; death to the Vonians; death to the cresent.

Hehe, haven't we all done it at least once, just to see what might happen? 🙂

On topic: Escape Velocity doesn't get much play because of lack of spare time and Halo. I play it because of all the nostalgic memories I get from it and the abundance of total conversions. Though a beautiful game, Nova doesn't even come close to it.

      ------------------
      Here's something funny: System 7.5.2

    • When I first started playing EV, the game was more a story, a chronicle of my character's life than just a very innovative space game. When EVO and Nova changed around the galaxy and back story, it just didn't feel like the story could be real again. My own backstory to the game felt corrupted.

      What can I say? I'm a sentimentalist.

    • I play EV and EVO because there's no decent PPC emulator yet. I sorta blew up my LC III (my only Mac) but I had previously taken its ROM, later loading it into BasiliskII. Fun to tell people my Athlon 2500 runs MacOS 7.
Anyway, I like nova and all but I don't wanna get it 'till I can afford to register it, so I don't get those you-registered-it-after-it-expired bugs I've heard so much about.

What bugs? If you buy it not and your code expires before you can use it, the registration app in Nova allows you to submit that code and instantly get a new one. Easy.

I don't play EV anymore because it just no longer interests me. I really enjoyed it the first time through (woo-double agent-woo!) but, after I had beaten it once, I didn't bother with the plug-ins because they felt too much like the original EV. I decided my time could be better spent elsewhere.

And then, along came Nova... 😛

      TOPIC: TAKING SOL
Is there an end to the defense fleet?
Do you know how many ships?

Having captured my own Rebel cruiser before taking on the alien challenge, and having gathered Confed Cruisers for escorts + a few frigates, I have now dedicated myself to conquering the confederate universe. I've got pretty much all of it, but I'm fed up with the Sol system. Confed frigates are tough, but very beatable - It just takes time. However, I've sat for HOURS UPON HOURS, taking out dozens, hundreds, who KNOWS how many frigates - ... AND THEY JUST KEEP COMING!!! I'd stick with it to the end, believe me I would, as long as I knew there WAS an end. Is there an end to the swarms of defenders called forth from Earth, or even Mars? Luna? ANY of the 4? If so, does anyone know how many of them there are? As long as you run away to the edge of the system when your shields get low, you can kill to infinity. I just give up once I have to return to life and eventually lose interest in killing the repetitive onslaught. Has anyone taken Earth? HOW MANY? Please help...

      -Fed Up!

    • Their number is finite (beleive me, as one who understands the EV data), I could even tell how many by checking the data but it would be spoiling... Know it is huge, but finite.

      Your version of EV-Edit WORKED??!
How did you pull that off?? Sounds to me like you have the newest version there is, because I want a new version that actually makes plugins!
If you want a plugin editer that works for EV, EVO, and EVN, use (url="http://"http://davidarthur.evula.net/")Mission Computer.(/url)
