    • Yeah, I just dodged the Fighters. It's pretty easy in a full-speed-upgraded Lightning...

      700-something speed, IIRC..

Then you just have to worry about the seeker drones...

Destroyer E is the name of my ship and the name has a good meaning.

    • Yep.. One of them, down to 50% armor 🙂

I did have to try quite many times, but successfully completing the mission including every try took me 23 minutes. I think.

    • Many months ago, Mac challenged me when he claimed to have completed the Alien Mission in a Scoutship. It was a lot easier than I expected.

This first time I did the mission, I .... Oh nevermind. I don't want to spoil the fun for the new kids.....

    • I think I used a kestrel the first time.

Doing it with a scout ship is easy... they're fast enough to stay behind that damned cruiser ..

    • I Don't care what you say, it easiest in a corvette. They have suberb turning and handling and with the tractor beam all I had to do was go at the crusier full speed with everything firing and i just pused him back and back and... you get the point.

    • :pat Some 1 on the back: I'm glad you've learned your lessons now.

    • The system always has asteroids. Just fly around until he's launched all 80 seekers and then stay behind him unleashing with turrents. I find it easy with any ship, but generally having more turrents makes it go faster so Usually I just use a krestel, a rebel destroyer is just plain cheating... its over in 30 seconds.

Cheat in almost any mac game. Even Nova... Even UPLINK.

    • Maybe it was just me, but back when I was playing EV I wasn't able to inflict any damage on the cruiser using 3 proton turrets and 3 proton cannons. However, filling my weapon space with neutron cannons seemed to do the trick.
And don't complain about me being a crappy pilot, I wasn't one.

    • I just found the alien cruiser in this mission and I tried to attack it. WHOO-WEE, that hurt. my jaw must have hit the floor when I got in front of him.(you know what that means) I am flying a rapier with a 6 rockets and 20 torpedos. I also have two rapier escorts and one lighting escort. I must have tried like 16 times to kill him. I only dominate enough planets to get 20 thousand a day and I have 17 million credits. I'm not likely to upgrade my ship to a larger one unless I can find some thing that can match the rapier's speed and manuverability and yet have more firepower.(I'm thinking rebel destroyer here)

      what should I do?

one more question--when I kill the alien am I able to buy rebel ships?

    • What you can do (seeing as you have 17million credits) - also providing you have a clean relationship with the Rebels- then.. First, buy a Kestrel. Then head to Palshife and go to the outfit ship there. You can buy upgrades for your ship which increase the manuverability and speed as well as acceleration for around 150,000 credits each. Then you will have the superior firepower (the lightning fighter bay is useful too). With all this you should be able to beat the alien crusier. And after that you can buy Rebel ships. The destroyer is not that fast anyway. Hint: Concentrate on the cruiser, the fighters are almost impossible to destroy. You can use the forklift if you want too.

    • I actually managed to destroy both fighters and cruiser before. The secret is to keep firing, and of course, stay behind them. It takes a while, but eventually you can still destroy the fighters as well. But good hint: Finish off the cruiser first, it's much more annoying. The real annoying thing is that the fighters can turn rapidly. I usually destroy them in an upgraded Corvette.

      crazy!

    • Alright, I (finally) got the alien cruiser mission, but the Rebel Cruiser escorts mysteriously disappeared on the way to Gamera (I seriously doubt the pirate fare around those independent planets could have destroyed them, so I'm assuming it's a bug). Is there any way to fix this, or should I just try my best with my current ship (corvette) and escorts? So far I haven't been able to kill it.

    • I still think you should go for it. I didn't receive any help, yet I killed the cruiser. Be careful though, it's a tough cookie. Note the hints above, and you should do just fine. 🙂

    • I agree. Just keep trying and you will beat it. You just need to figure out a tecnique.

The Dark before the Light is upon us...

    • The easy way is with the tractor beam and at least 3 Proton turrets, get on top of the AC . lock on , and grind away with the turrets. It goes a little faster if you use the tractor beam to slow , or stop the AC. There are lots of hard ways to do it. If you want to kill the Alien fighters, you need 4 proton turrets, and you might find it necessary to kill all of the Mantas in the system since they will attack you if they get hit wilh any of your stray Proton bolts.
