    • I have about 20 different pilots, and one of them is invisable, will jump to hyperspace without fuel, has 4 Lightnings, and does some strange stuff when I put plug-ins in.

Destroyer E is the name of my ship and the name has a good meaning.

    • nothing very funny has ever happened to me in EV (except having a virtually new pilot stumble upon a derelict Kestrel :D). I also Monty Pythoned a Kestrel in a shuttlecraft though, which was pretty cool :). And I did the string in GS where you basically cart your arse around the galaxy to collect some cool upgrades in a shuttlecraft (I sold my Argosy), and so ended up with a rather powerful shuttlecraft (extra armour, loads of speed if you include the normal speed upgrades, extra weapons space and with a mass expander thingy I had 3 laser cannons, 2 javelin rockets and an armaplast. I took down three pirate argosies one-on-one by just firing my weapons and flying directly into them with that ship :))

I did that once, I took the Lightning Fighter-Bombers and sold them. Got a good 2 million!

    • when I was younger, and I played the game a lot, I boarded a Confed gunboat after a large battle...I accidentally chose to trade ships with the captain, and as soon as I saw what was going on, I realised my big mistake. A Pirate jumped in-system (this is Sol...so it's kinda interesting)and my argosy took off without me at the controls, and started happily blasting away at the pirates with my super duper kick-arse modified Argosy...I then noticed that I was now an insignificant blue speck...damn I was dumb...I was about 9, I think...

    • another weird experience:
I was playing EV, and watching Species at the same time...I landed on blackthorne for a bit, and stopped everything to watch the movie. I had six kick-arse escorts, and when the movie was over, I went back to playing, scared off my arse already, but to find that all eight (two were Hawks I launched, then sold the bay...think Argosy, here, guys...) of my escorts had disappeared...that pissed me off sooo much...

AND...to top all of that off...I had a dream that night of being chased down the metal-clad hallways of my Argosy,. screaming for help, as the alien from Species chased me down, ready to eat me alive...I awoke to find a normal morning, etc...but my stepmom told me that I had run down the hall, and was huddled, screaming for my life, in the corner of the master bath...damn, that still amuses me, to this day.

      Sweet Dreams, all!

That was extremely weird. EV and a movie mixed together. A alien chases you inside a fictional spaceship?

I never remember my dreams. I hate dreams too, I always wake up tired after having a dream. Maybe cos all my dreams are boring. 😉

    • I was playing EVGE and captured an Alien C&C; ship with 1% odds. Talk about having no fear of anything in the game(except an Alien Maruader). Launching 4 Alien Cruisers as fighters makes short work of your enemies!

Anyway... I was doing what i do best, watching a battle in confederate space. Don't remember esactly how many ships but it ended in a stalemate and the only ship left over was a rebel destroyer. So i hop over, yes i hopped up and down, over to it and boarded it. To my surprise i captured the ship . It's amazing what a few upgrades can do to that ship. Not only could it outrun all missles it was an extrememly agile ship. I felt like i was flying around in a Super-Super versoin of a defender. :). The best part was that since it was in confed space and i captured a rebel ship my status remainded the same throughout the universe. (Later i remember forklifting every ship that came near me, oh well shruggs ;))

    • darn, I desperatly want a rebel destroyer. I have wanted one ever since I got the game. but I cant kill the ****** alien cruiser and since I've gotten that far in the string I don't want to ruin my "upstanding citizen" legel status. Is there any other way to get a destroyer without capturing it or compleating the rebel string?

Yes, you can complete the Confed string, since you can purchase ships from either group after that side. The way I look at it, the rebels are happy you destroyed the aliens, but the confeds hold a grudge if you follow the rebel string.

You could also watch a fight between a destroyer and a frigate. Just as the destroyer gets disabled, kill the frigate.

As for destroying the alien cruiser (which you have to do for both strings), I'm sure you can find many examples of strategies for doing this here on the board. The main thing: don't let it use its beam on you. If you have the tractor beam (which is only available on the rebel side), use it from behind the cruiser and keep pummeling it with your primary weapons. This way it won't be able to turn to aim at you. And don't worry about the fighters. You don't have to kill them, just the cruiser.

(edit): Oh yeah, the weirdest thing I've seen is when one of your escort's fighters picks up one a ship you disabled as if it was a fighter. I'm not sure if I'm remembering the situation right or not, but the idea is still there.

Another funny thing to do is to make the forklift fire at a ridiculously high rate and fire it at one of your own escorts. It's kindof cool to see all those forklifts dancing around the ship.

what ship are you in? And the easiest way to do it is to hire six light freighters, spend three hours trading, and then hire six kestrels to destroy the alien cruiser in about 10 seconds.

I have a rapier, a super duper rapier. its packed with everything it can hold.

    • I just had an interesting experience. I was playing EV Classic for Nova and had gotten up to a clipper; 4 proton cannons, a javelin pod, and 100 javelin rockets, plus a few miscellaneous outfits like the density scanner. I decided to try out EV Override for Nova, so I switched the data files. Just for fun, I decided to use the same pilot. Suddenly, I'm in a crescent warship with 4 rocket launchers, a Krait Bay, and 100 Kraits!

This leads to an interesting possibility: Someone could buy an el-cheapo ship in one and wind up with something super powerful in the other.

I wonder which ship corresponds to the Alien Cruiser...

For that matter, I wonder what I end up with in Nova...
