Mineing asteroids, Are there any plug ins that make that possible in EV?
Maybe you could makei it so there is a 'government' of asteroid ships throughout space that you can board and loot but not capture.
or derelict ships that look like asteroids and you can blow them up and catch the escape pods of metals.
I like the idea of the first one because it allows for a special asteroid or two where some long dead pirate or war lord hid his booty and you could strike it rich. Plus if you (board) mine an asteroid and take enough it will crumble beneath you and cause minor damage as chuncks going slamming into your ship (selfdestruct).
I may just have to give in and pay the twenty for Nova. Does it still include the older versions free and updated? Do those updated include allowing mineing?

I don't think anyone would be able to make a plug that would change the way the asteroids react in EV, or derelict reaction. Also, they would have to edit the missions, make a new goverment (Probably) and soje of the other smaller things like upgrades. They could make it, but a good deal would involve re-writing parts of the game. I remember you used to be able to shoot asteroids and blow them up, though. Good times, good times...

Sounds to me like instead of trying to be thrifty (Not that I condem it), you should just shell out the 20 for Nova. It's a great game. Oh, but you can download the latest for free, though.

Tim Isles has implemented such a feature in his Empire plug-ins (see my sig). He made a ship called 'Mineable Asteroid' that has no acceleration, speed, weapons, or shields. When you disable it and board it, it has around 200 tons of metal.

EDIT: Just so you guys know, Nova is 30 bucks, not 20.

Thats so cool! You can mine astereoids in EV too, not just Nova. It was in neither of the earlier. Where can in find these astereoids? Are they in E1 too? Thats what im playing...

I know for sure that they are in Brother hood of the Kestrel. Oh, wait, that hasn't been released yet... They're also in Realm of Prey and I'm fairly sure they are in Dark Horizons. I'm not sure about the rest.
