    • BROTHERHOOD OF THE KESTREL update

I recently recieved an e-mail from the almighty Tim Isles regarding BOTK:

      Quote

...BOTK is OFFICIALLY mission-ready after truly exhaustive testing of its hyperlinks, ships and weaponry. I hope to begin sketching out the essential mission structure for the plug later on this week. Again, there are three ways to play - the Subnebula Cartel, the K'rali Syndicate and the Darksiders... along with many detailed side missions for the Weave, Empire, Sauridians, Non-Alligned Worlds and Artemis. At the moment, a late August release date is reasonable. BOTK is going to be quite different from the original Empire Of Crime in that this time there will be much more emphasis on the personalities of the characters the player interacts with and what drives them.

In other news, MacDevil is doing a lot of work on the Heart Of Darkness NOVA version which sounds like it should look fantastic when done....He hopes to have the plug ready by August as well, so if all goes to plan there willl be TWO Empire-based scenarios available!

      /me swoons 🙂

    • I would just like to add a more detailed status report for my HoD-Nova conversion. Currently I have converted all the original ship and weapon graphics to EVN. I have converted the ships and added variant classes and upgrade paths for most (some don't have them for obvious reasons). I have converted all the original outfits and weapons (more will be added when the plugin becomes more playable). Currently I am working on the Goverments, of which only a few are currently done. Tim was gracious enough to render custom news graphics for all the major governments of the game, to add a bit more flavor.

Unfortunately, the plugin may be later than an August release, as I recently found out I will be away for most of June and will be unable to work on the plugin during that time. I also am planning to finish up part 2 of Unity, my other Nova project, now that 1.0.5 has been released. Unity is not expected to take more than a week or two to finish, after which I will divote my full attention to this conversion.

The project itself is a test for possibly doing Vega (currently on hold, see my sig) in the EVN environment instead of EVC. I am also still looking for someone willing to convert the original plugin graphics to a better Nova format. If you are intersted please e-mail me (AGS848@AOL.com).

I do not smirk. But if I did, this would be an excellent opportunity to do so.
