Which do you think is the best ship in EV? I mean, when you add stuff to a weak ship, it can get stronger then a Kestrel and stuff. But you can add things to Kestrels too... So which to do you think is the best? 
But I am not a newbie to EV, OKAY?

Best ship, like they said...
I have a certain affection for the Manta though. It handles sooo smothly and with a few upgrades it can actually do good as well. I mean, it can (almost) take hits from three missiles allready and I love the swivel lasers.
Swivel Turret lasers rule the skies. Swivel + good manoeuverability > 360° Turrets any day.
No more "I'm targeting the right ship and it's basically frozen in spac, but still the turrets won't hit!"

Here's something funny: System 7.5.2
I thought that any ship you have is the best, but maybe Rebel Manta is the best even though it only has a few missles... It just isn't good at man-to-man fight. I didn't save the game in which I got a Rebel Cruiser, so I'm back to being a Manta I guess! I'll get some upgrades and try it. 
You could say I'm kind of new to a Reb Manta since I always got Rebel Cruiser. I just thought I might try Manta out, and I'm really used to it now.

In EVO I got to deadly in the shuttle, w/o using any cheats and using more than the Monty Python. It was upgraded to three blaze cannons and a fuel scoop. Then I bought another ship, blew up a Voinian frigate and got to Ultimate.

A shuttle? :eek: In EV and EVO, I tried that, but shuttles are so weak... so I always started fighting with Scoutships. What was the name for the ship Captain Hector had in EVO? I was going to start fighting the Voinians with that ship, but it took a REAL long time to get it since I was so lousy at missions.

You can even just by battleing small ships, just enough of them because it goes by the amount of people you kill, thats why the ones with larger crews give you a higher combat rating faster.

Igazra doesn't have more than a few dozen crew. Cruisers are a better bet.

My favourite ship in Escape Velocity has always, and will always, be the Lightning. It's comparatively weak enough that the game is more challenging than if you were, say, flying around in a Rebel destroyer, Rebel cruiser or Kestrel (those three having to be the three most powerful vessels in the hands of a player), where there's next to no element of strategy required.
I tend to modify a Lightning to be used as a long-term craft, with laser cannons and javelin rockets coupled with extensive upgrades, though I have tremendous respect for the AI versions of these craft: ever since I made my own über fighter called the Eclipse, piloted it myself and fell to two Lightnings, and when I played a plug-in where I saw a Lightning take out somebody else's über fighter. The combination of laser cannons (superior to proton cannons), javelin rockets, heavy rockets and missiles on a fighter-bomber is quite terrifying.
I had a brief affair with a Rapier using EV MAGMA (can't stand how they normally look), but it turned out that with a layer of tritanium, I was essentially invincible, which took all the fun out of it. Wasting about twenty destroyers, frigates and both government cruisers without landing was kinda' fun, but still...
In conclusion, I vote Raphtning.
