Hello everybody. I'm also new to the EV boards but not new to the game. Here's my current status in EV:

Ship: Lightning Credits: 1.05M
Weapons: 2 Laser cannons, 3 Proton cannons, Javelin pod(546 Javelin Rockets), Missile Rack(21 Missiles)
Extras: Meizner ramscoop, Shield Capacitor, Auto-Refueller

I'm really evil right now... :mad: About 70% of all the systems are hostile to me. My hobby? Destroying innocent ships, preferably Clippers, and plundering them. Basically, I'm a pirate.

Laser cannons cause more damage than proton cannons when you add up rate of fire and hitting power... get rid of the protons and replace them with lasers.

Nah. I prefer range more. What I do is, basically, is force the enemy to chase me. I glide at about the same velocity as the enemy. Then, when the enemy is within range of my protons, I just shoot. The end result is, they die, I survive. Heh heh...

Besides, the monty python takes away all the fun...

Yeah, if you're in a Lightning just max out its speed capabilities and have fun destroying 'fed cruisers by luring their fighters away, destroying them, then circling the cruiser and pummeling it with everything you've got while dodging its weapons...

It doesn't even take a Lightning. Give a Rebel Destroyer max upgrades, and it flies like a Lightning, and speeds faster than missiles. If you fly just right, you can even dodge the majority of proton turret bursts from 'Fed cruisers and frigates.

7,000, lol. Real hard to take over those kinds of planets, now if you did that in a shuttlecraft that's something. Never tried it though

It looks to me like this "Monty Python" way of killing is more of a strategy than a cheat. A good strategy. Correct me if I'm wrong...

That's one feature I liked in the Override engine... the improved AI means the ships chasing you often turn away when the monty python is used.

The pirate ship Vengeance has been generally wreaking havoc around the galaxy. We will pay 100,000 credits to whoever eliminates this menace. Be aware that this pirate moves from system to system very rapidly, so keep an eye out for it.

Hmmm. If I were you I'd ditch the Neutron blaster and replace the laser turrets with proton turrets. The extra firepower is invaluable. Ditch the 2 proton cannons and replace them with laser cannons (laser cannons have better range and firepower than proton cannons. Laser turrets, however, are not more powerful than proton turrets since 3 proton cannons are mounted on a proton turret, and only 2 laser cannons are mounted on a laser turret). Buy another missile rack, 6 missiles and 2 javelin launchers (which are far more powerful than one Neutron Blaster). I am not you, however, so feel free to ignore all this advice, I'm not the best spacer out there, so ask somebody who is (Captain Skyblade, EVula, Mazca e.c.t).
