Funny how I've somehow always over-looked that... thanks.

on a lightning the -2 on shield regen ups the shield regen rate by 12.5% while on a confed cruise it ups it by .0056%. It all depends on the ship your in, on fighters its great on capital ships its a waste of space.

Correct you are. Missiles have a more effective targeting system. Torpedoes are slow, slow, and slow... but it also has advantages. They inflict more damage, have the most range of any weapon, and are cheaper than missiles. I still prefer missiles, though.

    • The best way to compensate for the sluggishness of torpedoes is to fire them while remaining just out of range of your target's weapons.

    • I get 2 torp. launchers and max out the rest of the space with torps. Then I do a fly by using a afterburner (they cant hit me when i hit maximum speed) and when I can see them on my screen (not the radar) I flu right over them while fireing torps. Quite devistating if you ask me! But don't use on captil ships only use it on week ships that piss you off 😄

    • Missiles are fast and accurate, where's torpedos do more damage and are slow. If there is a great distance between me and the ship I'm attacking, I'll use torpedos, then when I get close I switch to missiles. Or if I'm after a big ship, or one I know won't move so much like a confederate cruiser, I'll stick to torpedos, and aim well. 🙂 (Missiles are great for blasting those **** annoying fed patrol ships. And one of my favorites is the heavy rocket straigh up the confed gunboats ass. 😄 🙂

      ------------------
Why? Because I have nothing better to do.

    • Now i found out another way to distroy captil ships. But it is verry dangerous I get a agorsy and use as many mass expansions as I can then i get 2 torp. launchers and 2 missle racks and max out with the ammo and then i get into resedit and make the launchers primary fire and i edit the confed ships to have more wepons so it equils out. Then i do a flyby with target locked and as i see him i put my 'lead' thumb on the space bar and i watch the target ship turn to dust 😄 😄 😄 😄 😄 😄 😄 😄 😄 VERRY DEVISTATING!

    • dang, there's no one that really went heavy rocket crazy. My system is to save up enough money to buy a courier, (scoutships have horrible shields) and then strip it of its guns, and put in a heavy rocket launcher and a laser cannon (more on that later) and all the heavy rockets i can fit. (note: i only do this when i plan on working for the rebellion) I then set out to take out all the argosies i see. Three rockets disables 'em. each argosy carries around 18,000-35,000 credits. much more fun than courier missions. plus, if you were to find yourself in an asteroid-filled system with a pirate corvette in it, their missiles and torpedoes (which are easily outrun) can be destroyed by the surrounding asteroids. Needless to say, with only its laser turrets left, it's easy pickin's. add 90,000 credits to my account.

I prefer leaving my foe and getting as far away as possible (usually far enough not to find him on radar), and then start heading directly towards him, firing torpedoes as I go. I can usually get a good ten or so torpedoes off before I pass the enemy target, and they all collide against him at nearly the exact same time. Works quite nicely against 'Fed frigates and cruisers.

Wouldn't that strategy work with heavy rockets, too? Of course, ten rockets is about a third of my full complement with a Rebel Cruiser. Just thought i'd support my little cause here.

    • I wonder what would happen if you set Heavy Rockets, Missiles, Torpedoes, Javelin Rockets and Neturon Blasters to primary weapons, then attacked a Confed Cruiser.
Me thinks it wouldn't last ten seconds

I do that too, but it doesn't work well in asteroid-infested systems, and it's easy to have your torps run out of power before they hit.

It's nice to watch the yellow blobs of death streak towards a Confed warship, though. 🙂

    • Space bombs all the way! Two racks fitted on a heavy warship (Kestrel, Cruisers) plus a full compliment of bombs can be devestating. Just use the torpedo tactic, but make sure you're heading exactly towards your target, 'cause they don't home in on a target. You can usually get two or three off at once. Five if you're lucky or careful. But each rack is, what, 50 tons or so? So, only get it if you can fit it. Badda boom!

    • Something like this could have come up in the Holo-Vid. Too bad it didn't...

"News Flash: A pair of our Navy's Frigates have been demolished by the evil pirate ship, Vengeance. Eyewitnesses say that the pirate hurled gravitic space bombs at the unsuspecting ships." Heh heh heh... Space bombs work real good for me. That got my Combat Rating up to Ultimate. 😄

    • Well, they'll blow up smaller ships singly. It takes like ten forklifts to take down a Confed Cruiser, so you'd need a lot of bombs, or primary weapons.
