Wow, tough question. EVO is definitely a distant third. Beyond that, it gets fuzzy.
As something of a small time programmer/plugin developer, I have to say Nova's engine really rocks, like Zeppelin rocks. Definite advantage there.
In graphics... I don't pay a huge amount of attention to graphics. Nova's are clearly superior, but not enough to make it a factor, as far as I'm concerned.
The story is fuzzy. EV's was short and simple, whereas Nova's are long and detailed. Nova tends to push you into a storyline early, and doesn't have much focus on combat at all. They both have really good points. Constantly being some superhuman in Nova got a bit odd, and I found all the endings - except, ironically, the Fed ending - rather depressing in some inquantifiable way.
Ultimately, I don't think I can really choose between the two, they're both really good. I would certainly say I don't have any problem with the thirty dollar investment into Nova, though.
