    • Switch Sides Mission

I was wondering how and were do you get the switch sides mission?
      😕

      Thanx

      ------------------

    • I've never encountered the switch sides mission in the basic game. It is possible to buy a clean legal status with the
confeds, and to improve your rating in any system by destroying pirates. After playing for the confeds and finishing
their missions, I was unable to get a real switch sides mission, or get the high level rebel missions at all. (Someone
should tell me if I just haven't kept at it long enough.)

      ------------------

    • you need to have a bad legal status in rebel space to get that mission and you must have done any fed missions, i think.

    • The Switch Sides mission is available on any rebel planet if the 'feds like you and the Rebels don't, or something like that. However, the mission does not (as far as I can see) stop the 'fed mission string (but unless you buy a Fake ID your legal status won't be good enough for any Confed missions anyway), nor does it clear the mission bit that allows you to start the Rebel Mission string.

If you want to edit your EV Data file to allow switch sides to do this, download "EV Edit" From EVDev.Net - or as a shortcut, from the following URL:
      (url="http://"http://evdev.damnsw.net/html/download.php?op=mydown&did;=31")http://evdev.damnsw....p=mydown&did=31(/url)

and use it to open up the Missions part of the EV Date file. Open up the "Switch Sides" mission and in the "Mission Completed" section change Mission bit 2 to "Clear 43" -that'll allow you to get the Rebel Parcel mission. However, if you've already cleared Switch Sides it won't work (but you can modify the Switch Sides requirement so you can redo the mission I think).

Another note: As far as I know this won't stop you doing the 'fed missions. But Switch Sides never did. It just made your legal status so low they wouldn't give you any missions in the first place. Buy a Fake ID, kill a few pirates and you should be able to carry on with both mission strings, stupidly enough.

Or, to avoid the instabilities of that aging application, use (url="http://"http://davidarthur.evula.net/mc.php")MissionComputer(/url) instead.

    • Meh, I find EV Edit faster.

Sorry about reviving a 2-year old topic by the way, I'm into the habit of searching for threads so I don't know how old they are, and since I don't come here much I haven't figured out how to tell how old a thread is.

Heh, you never miss a chance for an advertisement. I agree though, Mission Computer is better for this. Last time I opened up EV-Edit, all the ships stats dropped to 0 and I could only get the Rebel mission string on pirate planets! (don't ask how, ask Ben Chess, pah, as if I'll pay him $10 for that peice of junk :p)
