Shade looked at the financial stats again. Due to the capture of Guiron, the Confederates had forwarded 2 Million credits, bringing reserves up to 51.98 Million credits. Shade expected them to forward another 2 Million for the capture of Zigra soon.
Checking his incoming messages, Shade saw a reply from President Carnotaur; apparently they didn't need help. Shade replied anyway.

"To President Carnotaur of the Lethe Republic, from High Commander Shade of the Olympian Solidarity.
Odd. Last I knew, you two were at each other's throats. Ah well; I wish you and your nation well.

"There's a message from Levo, sir." Keri handed him a message printout; the contents were short, but hardly illuminating.
"Hummm " Shade opened the message systems, and spoke.

"To President Iron Eagle of the United Merchant's Guild, from High Commander Shade of the Olympian Solidarity.
I'm sorry, but at this point in time our goals do not coincide; we have nothing to discuss.

It was time to organise defence fleets for Lauralee and Akio; with the treasury at 51.98 Million, each fleet would try to stay under 20 Million. The two fleets would be the same, to reduce logistical confusion; Shade hoped to thus create a kind of "Standard Defence Fleet" for his colony worlds. The fleet was as follows;

Making a total of 19.99 Million.
That arrangement of ships would be known as a "Standard Colony Defence Fleet" or SCDF for short. Two SCDFs would be bought, one for Guiron and one for Lauralee, bringing the treasury down to exactly 12 Million.

The time had come for the attack, but now, it was not against the Pirates.

Assembling his fleet, Carnotaur grinned at its size and majesty. Sure, it wasn't big compared to a Confederate warfleet, but for a small government like the Lethe, it was incredible. The new Raven battlefighters assured them almost complete supremacy fighter-wise, and the Corsairs helped greatly against Light-Warships. Supporting his fleet would be the 13th fleet under the command of Grunadulater. The two fleets blasted into hyperspace...

Lethe ---> Alcyon ---> Deneb

The Lethe fleet entered the Deneb system and immediately charged the planet. The Corsairs and Ravens went first, their guns ready to fire as soon as the Deneb defense fleet was launched.

When it was, a huge wave of missiles, torpedoes, and rockets blasted them back. As they recovered with heavy losses and tried to charge again, they suddenly came up against a wall of Ravens and Corsairs, which immediately sent hundreds of bolts of energy into the enemy. The Ravens proved their worth as they maneuvered around enemy crossfire, outduelling even the Lightning.

The Corsairs were also supreme in the warship department, and second only to the two kestrels the Deneb defense fleet had. However, those weren't much trouble either; every single Kestrel in the Lethe attack force descended upon it and tore the two warships apart instantly.

The Deneb were badly outnumbered, and soon they fell to the Lethe fleets.

Deneb is now under the control of the Lethe Republic!

Jager sat in his new command chair in his Confederation Destroyer. Jager was young for a planetary commander. Being only 22 and having almost no battle experince made him a varanable target if he wasn't carful.

Looking at his Tatical command map he saw that the Nexus system just joined his goverment. Excelent he thought that was a second system withought fireing a single shot.

Pressing the comunacation button Jager singled his new formed fleet...
Set the nagavation systems towards the Pelagon system. We shall add a third system to our Sector of space soon.

Upon entering the Pelagon system there was no ships in site as the massive fleet moved towards the planet.
"Prepare to lanch torpideos and missles at the defence fleet," Jager sayed as he swivled in his command chair. Pressing the hail button he hailed the planet," You have 10 seconds to surrender or you will be destroyed."
The reply came as several flashes lit up the planet and Jagers Fleet opened fire on the few ships comming up. First to be destroyed where the few fighters coming up. the targiting scaners barly had time to change targets before the enemy ship was destroyed.

As Eagle awoke the next morning, he found the galaxy in utter chaos. Corruption had gripped the Confederation's backbone and soon he learned of Rak's resignation. "Damn" he thought to himself. Now knowing that he 'allies' in the Confederation were as corrupt as those he'd tried to keep out of Yemuro there was no question as to the next action. Looking at the latest battle reports, he found out that BattleGroup2 had suffered serious damage.

With recent developments, our current standing treaty is in need of refinement. I suggest we return to a modified version of our first treaty, prior to the Rebel threat.

Right of passage: The Confederation and Levo have right of passage and docking while having under 150M credits worth of fleet resources at one time. Larger Expeditions must be privately arranged.
Sale of Confederation military vessels to Levo at 150% their normal price and sale of Levean military vessels to the Confederation at 155% their normal price.
Neither side may allow fleets through their territory that have the stated or implied purpose of harming or interfering with the other party.

Newly elected Prime Minister Darion Ipvicus looked on with sad resignation as his long time friend, Alan Rak, resigned from the RSIA and announced his retirement to Liberty Station. While noone could have anticipated the mass desertions of Confederate Naval personel over the last few days, Rak had been selected as the scapegoat by the Republican Senate. He was not happy with this turn of events, but decided to make the best of things and solidify the support of his allies.

We have just received news that Marshal Darion Ipvicus has seized power in the Confederation government. The Supreme Court has been dissolved, and he is preparing to execute his oppositionÉ

Rak was stunned. Ipvicus. Overthrow. Soon his confusion turned to hot rage. Rak decided to formally retire and take command of Liberty Station. He first withdrew 400M from his personal bank account to purchase his new navy with, and stormed out of the Royal Palace. He ordered his best soldiers to join him on his Command Cruiser, and he also ordered his followers on board. Included were the entire brass of Atinoda Design Bureau, most of his top government officials, and many of his top fleet commanders. Rak ordered a course set to Liberty Station, and left Confederation space two hours before his Palace was stormed and his sympathizers shot.

Once at Liberty Station, Rak requested command of the stationŐs government. The current governor, an executive from Astex Corporation, upon hearing the news, allowed Rak complete control of the Liberty Station government and promptly began organizing AstexŐs retreat from Confederation space. Rak meanwhile, erected a government very similar to the old Confederation of Republican Worlds government. Rak named the new government The United Democratic States (or US for short), based upon the government of old that had pioneered republican democracy.

He immediately ordered the Atinoda Design Staff to begin designing new radical ships. He established his new navy, the Democratic Defense Force, and submitted his orders for new ships.

Levo is allowed to purchase the vessel for the normal shipyard price. The Confederation may purchase it for 175% the normal shipyard price. The Pirates may not purchase it.

Only Levo may purchase the Death Incarnate; they can purchase it at the normal shipyard price.
