    • Uranus, George's World and a heap of trash.

In 1781, William Herschel discovered a planet beyond Saturn, which he wanted to name 'George' after the king at that period. Many people protested because they though George was a stupid name for a planet, so they decided to call it Uranus (where is the logic for that decision ?). Uranus also happens to be the name for a ... well, we've all heard the jokes. In EV, there also exists a planet named Georges World, which also happens to be the glalaxy's trash hole. Is Ambrosia trying to make another Uranus joke, or is it a very 'odd' coincidence :p.

The logic for naming a planet "Uranus" is that it is a Latinized form of the Greek "Ouranus" which was the name of the god of the sky. It has nothing to do with anatomy.

George's World in EV is not exactly a trash hole, there are other places that are much worse, but anyway it is tribute to George Lucas - the name of the system where it is located is a giveaway.

To be more specific, the name of the system, THX-1138, was the name of a movie made by George Lucas, who then took the THX and used it for the name of his sound company. That's why George's World is shaking... everyone has their sound systems up too high. 🙂

THX-1138 is also seen to be the official military number for an Imperial stormtrooper in one of the Star Wars movies.

The number 1138 appears all over the place in the Star Wars movies. It's spoken, written, and so on wherever it can be. It's the numerical equivalent of "I have a bad feeling about this." The last time I was watching Episode I, I noticed that in the Gungan/Trade Federation battle scene, a battle droid with the number 1138 written on its backpack walked in front of Jar-Jar Binks.

THX-1138 appears lots of places in Lucas' work: Suzanne Somers' T-bird in 'American Graffiti' had that license number. 🙂
