      I had my left eye go almost completely blind! When I was five, I was playing in a creek on our 20 acre property - in California - with my older brother - he was twelve - and he was playing with sticks.... He told me to turn around, cuz he was going to chop a stick... I did, then turned back around, he hit the stick, I got a sliver about the length of someone's knotch in their finger (the last joint until the tip of the finger).

      I didn't cry; I was in too much shock. So Jimmy - my brother - carried me two miles up the drive way and was screaming for our parents. They came and grabbed me and put a rag over my eye. (Mind you, we lived on a 'farm' with just chickens. We lived off of food stamps about three months out of the year, and had just carpet over dirt for a floor.)

      I couldn't see, because the blood was covering my right eye also. But when they cleared it off, I was mainly closing it; still not crying. I don't know why I didn't cry... I guess I thought I'd be okay.

      My brother, Jimmy, rode his GT BMX to the neighbors about five miles away - we didn't have a phone - and called 911. The sheriff, fire truck with fire chief, an ambulance, and a life flight came. We were very well known because we were such nice people and socialized a lot.

      I went on the life flight. My dog, Kirby, tried to get on. Imagine a 150 lb. dog trying to get onto a life flight with stubby Chow legs and a St. Bernard body... 😄

      Anyway, I've had six surjeries; all within three months during the ages of five and six.

      They replaced my left eye lense with a glass one. I am legally blind. The injury is taking its tole on my right eye now... I have glasses, by the way.

      By the way, my dog, Kirby, just died last Summer. He was going on thirteen. :frown:

      The Space Between. That sucks. I saw the doctors today and they told me that I might be lossing my left eye. Ok I gess I will tell the story. Dam I can barly see the stupid screen on this computer.stupid 22 inch isn't big enough for a almost blind man..... Heres the story.

      I was in the field with my unit doing some winter warfar manovers when I sliped on a pice of ice and hit my eye on a small tree/stick thing. It made me unable to see out of my left eye and in a lot of pain. since we where like 50KM away from a hospital I spent about 2 hours in the back of a tank on the way to a hospital. that must og looked funney for a tank to pull up next to a hospital and a bunch of guys dressed in winter whites with high callaber weapons jump out hellping a guy with a bleading eye. Which I found out later that the blood was comming from my eye lid. but there has been a lot of bleding around my nearve(sp) in my left eye which has the doctors nervis about it.

      So at the moment I'm on about 15 different drugs and I cant see farther than 5 feet from my left eye. I cant see anything from my right eye. The doctors have told me that For sure I'm going to be getting glases and I will always have to ware sunglasses because of my right eyes sencitivity(sp) to light. all I can see out of my right eye is a blinding light even when its closed. which is spositly the bleading and the shock around my eye.

      So my life has sucked for the past few days. Just to let you know this happened thursday morning at 8AM my time and I finialy got to see the doctor after sitting in a waiting room at 7PM. you do the math. 1 hour traviling time so I got there at 9. then I waited. oh well at least I got to go home today. had to take a taxie though...

      I'm disgusted to see that my once proud Alien Empire fell into the hands of fools and was destroyed (no offense, anyone).

      Anyway, I'd like to join as leader of the Propus system.

      dam clear botton got rid of 5 mins of hard typing....

      I belive that it would be better if you went with a magiour goverment. For the simple fact that we have so many independent players.

      Hmm... Unit? So, you're on a military base? And you were doing some Winter camo tactics?

      Your injury sounds a helluva lot worse than mine... but I was younger... In fact, my body was in such good shape that my eye was healing too quickly, so they had to go in and make a small incision every now and then so that the eye wouldn't heal too quickly. They didn't want that because they needed the springs in my new lense to work or something... I forget.

      Still, yours really sucks.
      You're in New Zealand, right?

      Something sounds a little wrong with those doctors... you had to wait?! My parents would have been crackin skulls by the time we got to the 'waiting' room. 😄

      If he's doing winter camo tactics in the NZ Army, it will decrease my already fragile opinion of our armed services.
      Why?
      Because it's blazing summer over here, or course.

      Also, are we going to need graphics for new ships? I have some tasty designs lurking in my HD

      no no Canada..... But yes its winter over here.... Yes my Unit. And no i dont live on a base... Only work on one... So ya the army does suck and we have to wait because there was a emergincy case. some guy got his leg cut off or something.....

      That sounds very painful, the worst accident that happened to me was when I stepped on a rusted nail. Hope you get better.

      Go back and read the last page of the BFS III thread then read discussion... we defeated the Dreden before the mods changed/reinterpreted the rules on us. I still dont see what the big deal was, the HC could possibly have beaten us without the help of the Dreden anyway. Regardless we still didn't get "destroyed" out of foolishness, rather by sheer weight of numbers (at least thats what was going on when I joined).

      Well, it was in the hands of some that could be calssed as fools before you joined. Then Kyle took over, but by that time you were so outnumbered that pulling out a victory was nearly impossible.

      As for starting, we'll see what happens. I don't know if Skyblade's giving this to me or not. Regardless, I don't think we're going to make a big deal over new graphics, and there isn't going to be a whole lot of room for new tech if I have much to say about it. Some, but not much.

      heh. I'm a sargent. I dont live on the base just near it. And yes we do have an army. But oury navey SUCKS just because we dont have the money to buy several billion $$$$ worth of ships unlike the US. But still our army is considered to be one of the best trained armys in the world. But still we dont have all the stuff the US has but we still work hard. Some of our weapons are better than the US but thats only because the US's weapons are all most all invented in canada so we have time to find ways to make better ones for us. Example M16---C7 the C7 is 2KG lighter than the M16 and fires the same rate and holds the same ammount of ammo and is just as durable. Oh ya almost forgot. the only way the US sayed it would allow cananada to send in troops is if it brought its cyoties(sp) you know thouse aromured tanks/personal carriers with 8 weels(sp)

      Anyways I have a appointment at the hospital in about 1 hour so I will be able to find out whats happining.......

      Indeed, I don't know what Jager is getting at; our navy isn't large compared to, say, the United Kingdom or United States, but technologically it's nothing to sneeze at, at least not very loudly.

      Yes - they most definitely are quite formidable. They use many US components, so they have top shelf detection and fire control systems. However, they are not equipped with the latest weapons systems found on the upgraded 'Perry's. They are also very large (displacement wise), and have thick armor. They are a great ship, and Canada's twelve can readily compete in Joint Excercises.
