Suddenly the two Interdictors exploded, destroyed by a massive LRBM barrage originating from the Blackthorne station. 200 Corvettes rose towards the rest of the HC fleet, intent on destroying them. Styx fighters redoubled their efforts, swarming the two damaged battlecruisers and destroying them with their neutron beams. Although they took heavy losses in doing so, the continued their hunt, annihilating over a dozen Stingrays before being lost themselves. 20 of the remaining corvettes put all power into their engines and rammed into the vulnerable areas of several HC ships. All remaining cruisers erupted into flames along with 2 Skyblade frigates. Meanwhile, the reinforcements of the nearby station came in from behind the HC fleet and began blasting away without regard for their own lives. The intense tri-photon fire from the upgraded weapons appeared as though it were a beam, slicing through the shields and armor of the HC ships effortlessly. Rockets and Javelins blasted a wide area of space free of the HC Stingrays. Bewildered by the sudden turn of events, and realizing that they were now heavily outnumbered, the HC ships began to pull away.

Legatus Ipvicus looked at his his daily fleet report with concern. His fighters, while much superior to their HC counterparts had taken far to many losses to adaquetly cover all of his capital ships. Something had to be done to make his Capitals better able to defend themselves. Suddenly and idea hit him: those LRTBs designed by the defector, the Empire was not able to produce new ships armed with them, but all of the ships in his current fleet except the Destroyers and Interceptors could mount the new tractor beams if he ordered a refit. After temporarily federalizing several space construction firms and electronic manufacturing plants he ordered the refits on all his applicable ships.

The local Planetary Govenor also notified him that though all of his planet's major defense intallations had been destroyed by HC soldiers, some of the small fighter bases had survived and if he wished his goverment could support his fleet with a small number of interceptors during any in-sytem battles.
Ipvicus then decided to prepare the defence of the Selica system in case of any incursion by HC forces. All of this ships were moved within the planetary mass shadow of Selica prime and positioned so that any ship attempting to drop into the system would not be in weapons range before his ships could react. One squadron of his Interceptors was on CAP in screen formation in front of his fleet, while the other fighter pilots waited in thier wardrooms for any sign of attack. His two carriers were flanked on either side by two of his Battlecruisers while his third BC was positioned below their planeand slightly forward. The remainder of his capitals, destroyers and gunboats were arrayed in a fashion that gave equal cover over the flanks of his formation and could quickly be bolstered by either fighters from the planetary defense fleet or his un-commited fighters on board ship.

Since Azdara hasn't been around lately, I'll go ahead and perform the assault on Stornik instead. Azdara, simply bring the 36th to the Stornik system once I've captured it.

Unlike Vork, Stornik was completely silent. The traffic within Stornik must have filtered off once they say the 101st warp past their system during the attack on Vork. Nor did the defense fleet immediately attack the invaders; the 101st was able to take up battle positions before hand. This led to a decisive victory in the end.
A squadron of twelve Imperial fighters soon shot out of Stornik's yellowish atmosphere. Regardless of their slow speed, they were intent on destroying as much as possible in a short matter of time.
A slaughter soon followed.
Just as the alien squadron reached firing range, a large volley of Dreden rockets shot forward, shattering the wave of attack. An immense cloud of plasma fire, primarily from the _Liberty(/b) then followed. Many of the heavy fighters were in uncontrolled spins, badly damaged from the wave of plasma death. There was nothing the enemy could do. Hard as they try, there was no way to escape. Those that attempted to were chased down by Dreden Destroyers and blasted to pieces. The impressive firepower of the 101st couldn't be defeated by Stornik. The Dreden had captured the planet without losing a single craft.

"Admiral, our orders have been received. We are to storm the Stornik, taking control of the system." Captain Alexander walked over to Azdara Ace.
"Any other orders?" Azdara Ace asked.
"No, no other orders from President Skyblade. However, he has sent a few of our destroyers to Commodore Jimbob, who was a little short on ships."
" Okay, they've already left then, right?"
"Yes, they left 2 hours ago. You were sleeping, so I thought it best not to bother you."
"Thanks. Okay then, set the course. I want capital ships leading the assault, with fighters directly behind, ready to pop out and pounce on enemy ships." Within 30 minutes, the Dreden 36th Warfleet Division had left for Stornik.

With a blinding flash, the Red Intruder and its fleet entered the Stornik system. Her sister ship, the Dragon Tooth was being given the oppurtunity to lead the fleet into battle, the captain of the Dragon Tooth , Captain Stevenson, was in need of some serious experience commanding a fleet. Azdara Ace had already given him the battle plans, he just had to carry them out. The battle went quite smoothly, and Azdara Ace had to admit that he was very impressed with Captain Stevenson's performance. Not nearly up to snuff with Captain Alexander, but he showed great potential. The fleet lost 2 Slicers, 3 Crickets, and a Lynx, but that was the extent of their losses.
The Stornik system is under the ccontrol of the Dreden Rebellion.

Plute had had enough of piloting fighters. Since the Dreden ships were incapable of supporting "aliens", he and his top tacticians had been forced to remain in their fighters.
Plute had an idea however. While Sten was breifly under alien control, a light cargo vessel had been landed their and captured when the Dreden retook the planet. Plute's engineers had been renovating it since their arrival, and finally it was ready.
"Sir, modifications complete"
Excellent, soon I will have decent quarters again
The ship's cargo bays had been modified to support a Dreden heavy assult team/boarding party. Plute's plans were ready to commmence. He sent out a message over the intercomm at the Sten Spaceport.
"I need assult teams 49A, 23D, and 18A to report to hangar 59 please. That is all"
Within an hour, the teams were gathered.
"I'm glad you're here. You will recieve a full breifing on the ship. Reports show that there is an alien cruiser stationed in the defense fleet at Sentaurus Prime. Our goal is to capture this cruiser. Each team will have a specific assignment, which you will be given on the ship. We are to depart in 3 hours, so be prepared."
3 hours later, the ship departed as planned. Escorted by 2 of the heavy fighters, the modified alien cargo ship approached Sentaurus Prime.
"This is Cargo Transporting Unit 1329349-47B carrying food and metals for Cruiser Alien Spaceship(YOU try the abbreviation) Kthrakmalont IV requesting permission to land on pad 339." After a few very tense moments, the response came "You may proceed to land"
The 9 aliens including Plute himself wore merchant garments. They wheeled the crates carrying the wating commandos into the ship one by one, their multiple hearts beating very loudly the whole time. Finally, the last crate was wheeled in.
"NOW" Plute roared. The commandos burst out of the crates, capturing the startled aliens manning the cargo bay. "Jam the main entrance immeadeatly, I don't want a swarm of troops behind me. And knock out all outgoing transmissions.". The door was locked and the code and frequency changed. Luckily for the assult team, most of the crewmembers were not on the ship, but the ship was big enough that the ones remaining did pose a serious threat. "Shoot only those who are armed! I need them to serve as my crew!" Plute said as he blasted a guard. The fighting was intense, and the crew members on board were very hard to subdue. Soon, half of the ship was secured, and only the upper levels remained. "Team 1, secure engineering before they realize we mean to take this thing and knock out the engines. Team 2, Secure the bridge. Team 3, Stay with me, we have to secure the beam turrets, go!" The fighting continued for the better part of an hour. Finally, the last part of the ship was secured. Luckily, the ship was fueled enough for one jump. The Dreden assult teams suffered heavy damage however. Teams 1 and 2 were completely wiped out on the final assult on the living quarters, and Plute's team 3 had only 12 surviving members to force the alien crew to pilot the ship. Plute lost 3 of his dearest friends that day.
"Get us off of this planet!" Plute said. The cruiser, which Plute renamed the A.C.S Euphoria III, blasted off. It only took minimal damage from the defense fleet as it's takeoff was a surprise. Tell the 2 heavy fighters to dock with us, then take us to Sten!
The ship entered hyperspace and was finally back in friendly territory.

I love the arcade. There's this one game near the middle where you put in a dollar and win four quarters, and I win every time! They even have games in the bathrom, look! I won a balloon!
Legatus Ipvicus looked at his lates intelligence breifing blankly, if these numbers were right the combined HC fleets would be able to attack him in full strengh within a coulple of hours. “Well” he said “I wont be giving them the opputunity.” Helm prepare the fleet for battle, I won’t be leting the HC get comfotable.

When the Alien fleet droped outof hyperspace in the Pax system they did so well out of the range of the HC fleet. Within moments all of the Alien fighters had exited for their respective carrier ships like vengeful bees. and immediatly formed what fighter screen they could with their small numbers. Admiral Rak noticing the woefully insufficient fighter screen for what it was immediatly dispatched a large portion of his own Stingrays to punch through the defenses of these arrogant Aliens. 100 HC stingrays screamed towards the Alien fleet, backed by three full squadrons of Devil Rays (who were escorted by another squad of Stingrays). But these HC fighters would not overwhelm the Alien fleet, AladarÂ’s swift refits would see to that. Before the HC stingrays were even in weapons range the TLRT Beams of the Alien fleet lashed out, designed as they were for catching enemy fighters and holding them, almost none of the beams missed their targets and the ones that did were backed up by other beams. What the Tractor beams had caught, the other wepons of the Alien fleet soon destroyed, none of the first wave of stingrays survived. Seeing the fate of their faster more manuverable bretheren the Devil Rays tried their best to escape, but their confident charge had carried them too far and most of them, now succame to the un-waivering accuracy of the TLRT Beams, only four of these Devil Rays (and five of their escorts) survived.
The rest of the HC fleet was stunned, the Aliens had killed almost half of their fighter force without losing a single ship. The Aliens on the other hand formed up their defenses brought the their fighters closer into the main fleet, well out of the HCÂ’s reach.

Mod Post: Vice Admiral, I think I'm going to have to void that post. As far as realism is concerned, you did a fine job. However, I don't believe this webstory permits additional refits to ships already in service. In other words, if you want a ship that carries these new beams, then you are going to have to build a new ship which uses them as standard armament. If governments are allowed to re-outfit their ships, then this webstory is going to be a mess... Would you like for me to stuff trinity cannons and starwraith rockets on all my Titans and Destroyers? I don't think so... If you wish to reply to this message, do so in the discussion topic. Again, I would have nothing against your post had only your ships carried those beams as standard armament...
