Yeah, I think it would be cool to start a bar that is not an RPG sort of thing, for people to wander off the topic of EV and just chat, but who don't want to leave their friends on the EV board and/or don't fit in with the B&B; or Just Chat crowd (which most of us don't).

Is the purpose of bars role-playing, or was that just a Boozerama thing?

I think it would be cool to have a bar here for things like debates, Mac tech help, and discussions of other non-EV stuff. I have been toying with the idea of starting one, but I am going to wait a while to see if other people are even interested in having such a place on this board. But like I said, not everyone wants to be hanging out at B&B; or Just Chat but still wants to be able to talk about non-EV sorta stuff.

I don't see how mods would reject to a topic that is just for chatting about off topic stuff and general game help. It would cut down on the help topics if it was titled: General Chat and Game Help, or something.

Yeah, most people here would not be welcomed too kindly at the B&B; or Just Chat, nor would they fit in there. It's not okay to have a single topic on a board for off-topic stuff? That's different from spamming the board with a bunch of off-topic junk that would make anyone angry. If you don't want to read it, just skip the single topic and you don't have to worry about it. I strongly dislike the whole roleplaying thing, but I just steer clear on the role-playing topics and don't let it bother me.

I'm in complete agreement, buy hey, rules are rules. I've posted EV polls and other EV-related topics at the B&B; during my early days, and the reaction was "why the heck is this here?" I pointed out that the forum title said " EV Banter and Brawl," but it didn't seem to be of much use. It's almost like driving a BMW Z3 with a name on the back that says "Ford Mustang."

I agree that a general discussion topic would be great, since this is a different community than the Banter and Brawl. However, there are some people that would not accept that, and attempt to force the two communities together. Bummer.

You could always just start the bar on an EV topic and let it wander a bit off course. Let the few people who want to talk EV, talk EV. If you don't want to then you can simply sit in the Spacebar and drink EV drinks as you chat about whatever you want to.

Actually, I don't really consider "bars" EV-related at all. I won't ever move a bar to the Banter and Brawl unless it gets WAY off topic and becomes a debate topic (which I highly doubt).

So, Soviet mikee, is that a green light? It'd be good to have a place to bounce my EV plug ideas in, asides from the DevBoard.
Over there they're all too well, software -oriented than idea-oriented.It's all "how do I do this with that", when what I'm after is more like "What do you guys think of this idea?Would it make a good plug?".
And I went to B&B; a few days ago, and I must say,it seems very inane and pointless. The "EV" in the title means nothing.
Not to mention all the odd members there scare me.
Basically I'm thinking a more EV-oriented bar, to deal with off-topic but still EV-relevant things.
