      I've downloaded plug-ins for EV but I don't know how to convert the files to something I can use to drag into the plug-in folder. What kind of file does EV need to make a plug-in work?

      In order for plug ins to work, you need Aladdin Systems Stuffit Expander. This is their website, you can download a copy from there. (url="http://"http://www.aladdinsys.com/")http://www.aladdinsys.com/(/url) More exact is (url="http://"http://www.stuffit.com/")http://www.stuffit.com/(/url) . Once you have stuffit expander on your computer, dowload a plugin. When it's dowloaded, drag the sit. file to stuffit expander, and it will uncompress the files for you. Then read the readme and drag the nescisary files to the plug in folder.

      Also, when using huge plugs like New Horizons or Galactic Scourge, increase EV'a ram to about 40,000.

      Uhmm......how do you increase EV's ram.......sorry, I'm new to Macs.

      Well, you should select the icon of the Application, in this case the EV Icon you double click to play. Then go to the File menu bar, and select "Get Info" or Cmd I as a default, with the icon selected. At this point an info box should pop up, and depending on your OS, there should either be a field with some changeable numbers in it (the memory allocation bit of OS 9) or a pull down tab that should allow you t oselect "Memory"

      Once you find the boxes with the RAM numbers in them, just change that to 40000, like the good Mr. Jimbob said. This should be done in the second box, by the way.

      Regarding RAM, I've had to increase to 50,000 at times, especially when using MAGMA with other large plugins. I will even go higher if I'm testing some of my big graphic files...

      If you're new to Macs, maybe you should peek around your comp so you get the jest of things. Playing EV requires some know-how of the Mac platform.

      Like, for example:
      You need to incresae the memory allication of EV quite a bit.
      You need to know where to put Plug-In/Data files when Plug-Ins require things to be placed in different places than normal; like some require you to replace the EV Data file with the Plug-In's EV Data file.

      Things like that.

      But you have made a very wise decision to convert to a Mac. It's a lot easier to learn than Windows. But it's also pretty hard if you have used Windows all your life; just like converting from Skis to Snowboards.
