About the Kestrel...

Download EV Charon Enhancer once I publish it (sometime around the 24th of December). In it, the Kestrel is better for the price you pay, AND there's a sort of in-between ship for the Kestrel and Corvette; the Charon Frigate. The Charon Frigate is about as fast as the Corvette, but with shields nearly as good as the Kestrel. Beat THAT.

I'll agree on the Exec Transport, it's different but not great looking.As for the Rebel Cruiser, it's not one of the better ships in 1.0.5 either. It looked great in 1.0.4, but IMO was probably the only ship to actually regress in the graphics remake in 1.0.5. The Manta does look cool though.

Not at all.

The Kestrel now has 250 shields, the corvette has 100 shields, and the Charon has 150 shields; the same amount as the OLD Kestrel. It costs 6 million credits approximately, and is a little slower than the Corvette.

You have to note that in my enhancer ALL military warships, including the Kestrel, have been upgraded. That makes the Charon not a cheat ship anymore.

Bah, I'd never fly an Executive Transport. I just think the little guy is cool. Maybe it's not as nice looking as a Lear Jet, but at least as nice-looking as a Gulf Stream.

Manta graphic in the latest version of EV is extrememly nice. I remember version 1.0.0, when it looked like two objects attached with absolutely no textures (and made of plastic). It's come a long way...

Kestrel is the best ship in EV and even better then any ship you can get in EVO. You gonna be a poor pilot to allow yourself get hit by 30+ missiles.

A bit overpriced, though... And the Crescent Warship from Override was a complete rip-off of the classic Kestrel model. Lack of creativity, I guess...

Well, the Kestrel is so dang slow I wouldn't be sure about that.

Now, the best ship in the game is a Very RES Edited escape Pod.

Agreed. Besides, the Rebel Destroyer usually takes those two Lightnings with the Kestrel. Too much firepower for those pirate Kestrels to handle...

Azdara rocks. Nobody gets away with touching my Azdara and lives to tell about it.

I tend to disagree with that. I believe the answer lies in the fact that the Kestrel model was cool, and so they wanted to make a newer version of it. Besides, the CW almost looks cooler than the Kestrel.

Precisely my point. Override is a different game and has nothing to do with EV, so then there shouldn't be a "new, cooler, better" Kestrel in it.

Bah, Override really is pitiful compared to its older brother...

Not really, after all, the whole game is made up, so there can be as many unrealistic stuff as Ambrosia wants.

But I do admit that EV was a bit better than EVO.

For me there is only one ship in the game...the Kestrel(Mk.I). I like the newer models, but the Mk I looks so cool. Just sitting in place, it looks fast. So what if it's not the speediest ship in the game? So what if it's black? In Elizabeth Moon's books featuring the character of Esmay Suiza (Once a Hero, Rules of Engagement, Change of Command...), the warships of the Familias Regnant's Regular Space Service are ovoid and black. Black doesn't show up as well against the dark background of space as does a white/lighter colored ship. As for missiles...I find that I can take out most fighters/patrol ships...with one Guided Flame Missile or Kamikazi, while an Argosy usually takes five or six, and a Corvette, I can usually eliminate with one or two. As for Kestrels, they take lots of Kamikazi's or Guided Flame Missiles before they go down.
I don't care for the look of the newer Kestrel models, even if they are supposed to be tougher...than the Mk. I. Yes, I know that the Mk. I is a bit dated, but I still love my Nexium!
