    • Could you explain to me how to fight them properly, because all 3 attack me at once...

      ------------------
Go Red Sox! Down with the Yankees! 😛

    • Hey Kyle!

The first thing I do is get rid of all missile/rocket launchers/and their ammo, except for heavy rockets. I also get rid of all the energy stuff (lasers...) and just go with as many proton and neutron turrets I can cram in. Make sure you slap on extra armor/plating and extra sheild rechargers and regenerators.
My main strategy when fighting most ships is a variation of the "keep circling" tactic: I pick my target and while holding down both the target lock (the A key) and the accelerate (either the up arrow key or (for me because I changed the preferences) the 8/up arrow key on the keypad) keys. What this does is keep your nose pointed at your target at all times while you keep moving forward. As you circle your target, fire all your guns at him until he is destroyed or disabled (good for taking down pirate ships loaded with goodies/money) I like to use the heavy rockets on pirate ships. Just hold down that firing button.
Ya wanna make a lot of money/earn points with gov'ts/systems? Go after pirate ships, especially those using Argosy's as they usually have the most cargo and credits. I just wish there were some way to capture a ship so that you can sell it. The only options I see are 1. Use as your ship 2. Use as escort. If you use him as your escort, you can't sell him. I would use him as my ship only if his were a better ship/better equipped than mine.

      Good question!
      Cya!
      Ace 😉

Good policy, but "damn" isn't that bad. However, "F**k" in the topic would cause a karma-slap and delete, at the very least.

You get it by doing the Rebel mission string, I can't remember which one (doesn't really matter, you have to do it before the Alien one, I think).

Actually, you get the tractor beam on the Rebel Astrodyne Outpost missions, which I don't believe you have to complete before getting the alien mission. The only major string which is a prerequisite for the Rebel alien missions is the missions to infiltrate Sol where you're given the cloaking device.

With no plugs in, the proper way is to leave them alone and go for the cruiser. They really can't hurt you, and the escorts usually attack them. With plugs in that may be different.

As for the Tractor, again, without plugs it 0wnz the Alien Cruiser. If you can slap a tractor on the Alien Cruiser in a Corvette, for example, it pins it to the point that the Cruiser can't move or turn at all, and you can just blast it at your leisure.

    • I have a simple solution; download EV Charon Enhancer once I'm done with it (which should be soon). 🙂 In that plug, the Alien cruiser is only a little better than the Confed cruiser. Bad news; you have to fight a second ship which is even stronger than the original alien cruiser, and then a third ship which is better than that one. 🙂

    • I've suddenly noticed how much harder the alien cruiser of Escape Velocity is to destroy than the Dreadnought of Override. EV's just the better game. 😛

Alien harder than VD? You must not be fighting the Alien correctly, Skyblade. Either that, or there's some way to make really short work of the VD that I don't know of... The Alien Cruiser has got to be one of the easier things in the game, way easier than T.A.G. Although, I find it does get a little more difficult when you have to fight four at once and the fighters are tougher. 😉

Try taking the Dreadnought down in a Krait (actually, someone on the boards did manage to do this). The Alien Cruiser could easily be taken down by a small fighter if you knew what you were doing.

That's what I've found from personal experience. The Voinian Dreadnought is very slow target. The only thing I fear about it are its waves of fighters, which I attempt to pick off one by one with (dispersal or UE/Voinian) rockets before they can blast my ship. I usually perform the mission in an Arada or Azdara, decked out with shield generators and neutron cannons (If I've completed the Paraan (sp?) station missions, that is). From my point of view, the Dreadnought is a breeze compared to the aliens. And then again, the aliens aren't too bad....

Vonian Interceptors just suck; you can disable them with about three blaze hits. ph33r 7h3m n0t.

I used to take the Dreadnought in a Destroyer, which requires some tricky circling. All the Alien requires is a tractor lock (very easy) and the space bar.
