I don't know what to buy
      Proton Torpedos
      missles
      heavy rockets
      space bombs
      javelin rockets
I ust can't decide help me

May the Forklift be with you!

    • What kind of ship are you using? My weapon peferences depend on the ship. For small ships, Missiles and possibly Javelins; for larger ships, I use Torpedoes, some Missiles, and often Heavy Rockets. Most people tend towards Javelins and/or Heavy Rockets, though.

    • With larger ships (primarily the Rebel Destroyer), I always carry at least one unguided and guided weapon. I use the torpedoes against the capital ships, and heavy rockets / javelins for strafing runs. Of course, not to mention the proton turrets...

      Torpedos are guided.
      Missiles are guided.
      Heavy Rockets are propelled.
Space Bombs are Velocity propelled (meaning they are thrown at the speed of your ship)
      Javelin Rockets are propelled.

I would go with Missiles, for a number of reasons: They are quick and have great maneuverability.

Unless you have a ship with less than 20 extra tons of space for the missiles, then go with Javelin Rockets. They are always good to have around, especially in close battles - that's the only thing they're good for anyway.

Space Bombs are great if you have a battleship. You need lots of shield/armour, for if you get caught in the range of the bombs, you need protection.

    • Missiles are great in small to medium ships (Clipper, Argosy, Corvette), but they are very expensive, and not useful in asteroid fields. Torpedoes are excellent in capital ships (Kestrel, Frigate, Destroyer, cruisers), and they weigh the same as missiles. Javelins are superb in just about any ship, since they are weightless. 10 tons for 2 pods, and you can buy up to 999 rockets. Heavy rockets are bulky and hard to use, but they do a huge amount of damage.Space bombs do a tremendous amount of damage, but are really hard to use. Anything big enough to support them probably doesn't have the speed to get away from the blast.

    • I really rather prefer the torpedoes myself.

There's a good man. 😉 Refer to my post in the "Trade Routes" topic for my opinion of torpedoes and missiles.

    • I love the space bombs. I use a lightning with accl and speed engige upgrading and I do pretty well. I hardly ever get hit by my bombs. actually I only have once when i didnt know what they were

WRONG! Well, maybe, but I've got a Confed Cruiser (yes, Rawzer Strogart is Confed "scum") with speed upgrades and such, maxed proton weapons, plus three lasers, fuel stuff, afterburner, all armor and shields, etc, etc. And, on top of all this, one (or two?) bomb racks with somewhere between 40 and 60 space bombs. And I use them. And although I do get caught occasionally in the blast, I'm in a friggin Cruiser, so nothing much happens. (Think about it: it takes 8 forlifts to destroy one of those things. Space bombs are much weaker. Plus all the armor and crap.) So, if you really like space bombs, do what I did: stop being so stubborn and go Confed for a change. It works. 🆒 Or you can just sit in your weak little speed machines...

    • ...Which by chance speed around the bombs like a chicane on a race course and blow the Cruiser to tiny bits. 😛

    • Torpedoes are still more practical than bombs. Theres no chance of getting caught in the blast, plus they home very well. They're not as fun as bombs though.

Actually, they're about the same. Anyway, my "weak little speed machine" would toast your Cruiser in combat any day. Look at it this way - you can't possibly beat me, because you can't catch me. Ppppttthhhhbbbtbtt! 😛

    • I''ve only used space bombs twice that I can remember. I read the description on the bomb, realized the Confederation would hate my guts if I used them, and purchased them simply because they were ilegal. 😛 Blew a few 'Fed Cruisers with them using my Rapier...

...but I too find torpedoes more practical.
