I love trying to board disabled pirate ships before the 'Feds can blow them to pieces. Of course, I sometimes go into panic when I'm attempting to board a moving disabled ship being bombarded with missiles and torpedoes in time. 
Kestrels carry lots of credits. Try disabling Matt Burch's ship sometime (I did it once, and took forever), and you'll have multi-millions in your hands.
