What are some good ways to boost your combat rating if you have no room for new wepons and what are all the possible ratings (In order from greatest to least if possible)

If your a Confed or Rebel, taking missions were you assinate a Senator give you combat rating. Killing Pirates is also a great way to bring it up, as it also brings up Karma throughout (sp) the galaxy. Killing anything brings up your rating, it counts how many crew are killed so killing larger ships with higher crews will bring it up faster. Remember to take into consideration governmental affiliation when attacking enemies. The combat ratings are thus: (from greatest to least)
Ultimate
Deadly
Dangerous
Excellent
Noteworthy
Competent
Above Average
Average
Fair
Mostly Harmless
Harmless------------------

Also, those missions are Rebel only - the Confederation doesn't assasinate elected representatives. The parallel Confederation missions are to disrupt Rebel military supply convoys and such.

If you want to boost it and not die, go kill Confed Luxury Liners in Capella when there's no Confed ships around to rescue them. I know it's cheap, but it works.

What I usually do if I want to increase my combat rating very quickly early on is to seeks out battles between confeds and rebels. If you find a cruiser that's outmatched and about to die, go in for the kill, and it goes towards your combat rating. None of the work, all of the glory.
Of course that rarely happens. My combat rating always seems to increase at a decent rate as I play.

As long as you land whenever UE looks outmatched and avoid Voinian cruisers, it's easy enough. In Escape Velocity, these situations are a bit more rare.

Once I jumped into a system with a disabled Kestrel in it when I only had a Agrosy, I killed it and kept getting offered pirate hunting missions.

The way I boost my combat rating is I kill all the confeds I see then I go to privateers haven and buy that one card that elimates your criminal record.

All of the uninhabited systems at the Northern Rim are fertile with Pirates and lots of Argosys and other traders/regular citizens.
Risa is my fav. pickup spot for pirating vessels.

Also, if you just go around shooting those ships, you're a moron. Disable them and steal all of their money, they're usually quite loaded. After you do that, THEN shoot them.

Fertile? Loaded would make sense. Fertile means fresh and moist, and crops grow well in that area. Fertile plains, yes. Fertile pirate infested systems, no. Unless you ment pirates are "Ripe for the picking".

Ha! I got stuck in a system with my trusty Rebel Cruiser with only twenty missiles and four proton turrets(this was a day after I got it) and I watched three Confed Cruisers and a Pirate fleet that had four Kestrels and a Corvette blow each other apart. So I boarded the Pirate ships just before they were destroyed and took all their money so I could get more upgrades for my ship.
